Watch Recommendations

I've been saving money to buy myself something nice as a graduation present. I have about $3000 saved up and have decided to buy a nice watch. I have been eyeing the Cartier Tank Solo large because it seems like something not many people have. I really wanted the Roadster, but so many people around me have it, I don't want it to seem like I'm copying. I had my mind pretty much set on the Tank Solo, but I'm now having second thoughts. Anyone have recommendations in my budget?

What is making you have second thoughts? Is it that you don't love the watch, or are you looking for something with a different look than the Cartier? Sportier? Girlier?

I'm not really sure why I'm having second thoughts. I do love the Tank Solo, especially since the large is the perfect size for me. I feel like I might be missing out on something better. Maybe there is a better watch that I don't know about? I'm not much of a jewelry/watch person so I don't know much. I don't really have a certain look I have in mind. I'm pretty much open to everything. Small, big, round, square, anything is fine.

If you're not a watch person and you don't have a certain look in mind, I would just go browsing lots of different makers and styles. I don't think anyone can really tell you what you're going to love - you have to see it on your wrist and feel it!:flowers:

I agree, you may try browsing as suggested, try on different designers and styles. See what else looks chic. I know my DD always wanted a MK Rose Gold, when she tried on other styles, fell in love with another MK. Happy shopping.:smile1:

I wouldn't spend that kind of money until you are feeling some pretty serious love. I agree with the previous posts, go try on LOTS of watches. Also, at this price range, you should think about whether you care if the watch is automatic or quartz. Automatic is more high end, but comes with a maintenance cost.

If you don't absolutely love and adore it, don't buy it.

Go to your local higher-end department stores, jewelry stores, and definitely check out any timepiece-specialist stores (Tourneau or Tourbillon both stock a wide variety of brands).

Peeking into the watch cases of stores that carry a nice full line of their own watches (Montblanc, Bulgari, etc.), even if you aren't crazy about the brand, might also help you figure out what you're looking for.

I agree with checking out large watch vendors that have a wide selection. Try a lot of things on. Remember that you can usually get a 10-20% discount off of the MSRP just by asking.
