I'm graduating from high school on Saturday, and my father is buying me a nice watch to celebrate. I live in a pretty small town in South Carolina, so I've not really had the opportunity to try them on in the store. I fell in love with the 18 kt white gold Lady-Datejust pearlmaster Rolex, but the $37,150 price tag killed that dream for me.

His favorite is a steel and yellow gold Lady-Datejust Rolex. It's gorgeous, but I'm just not the hugest fan of yellow gold (my parents assure me that this is ridiculous). I really like the stainless steel TAG Aquaracer with the diamond bezel and diamond markers, and I just discovered the Cartier Roadster. I'm not too sure of the price of the Roadster, though. My mother is really insistent that I pick something "ladylike."

I would love some advice and opinions! I don't want to look ridiculous, because I'm so young, and I'm not too sure which watch would be best. Thanks in advance!

If you like Tag Heuer then you should also take a look at the Link Chronograph with diamond bezel. http://www.tagheuer.com/the-collection/women-collection/link/chronograph/index.lbl?w=CJF1314.BA0580 It is more "ladylike" than the aquaracer. I don't know if you tried the small aquaracer (27mm) or the big one (32mm).
I think the Link Chronograph (32mm) has a younger look than the traditional Link (27mm).
With Tag you can get a lot of bling for much less money than for example Rolex.

There are some gorgeous Cartiers out there.
And do not forget Patek Philippe. I'm in love with the Nautilus. The Calatrava is popular. Twenty-4 is similar to the Cartier Tank Francaise.

If you can't find the watches in stores near you, then try on similar watches to see what lookes best on you. I'm watchhunting myself, and I have changed my mind several times after I started going to watch boutiques and trying the watches on.

A TAG is not a good investment for a life long piece. The TT may grow on you. Also, why not look at the SS Rolex Datejust with a fluted white gold bezel?

I would go with Rolex, I also love the pearlmaster but went with a stainless & white gold diamond mother of pearl dial Lady Datejust. I wanted all white metal so thats what I decided. Well, 2 years later I now traded it in for the same watch in two tone! I have two tone David Yurman and I now think the two tone is just richer and slightly more classic. For the long run, I would go with the two tone Rolex, with diamond mop dial if thats an option, unless you really can't stand the two tone...The stainless & white gold Rolex datejust is also very classic.

I would prefer the Cartier for your age. Rolex for when you get a little older as your taste will probably change.

I personally love the Tank Francaise or the Tank Americaine (on my wishlist) as they're quite 'ladylike' but I think the Roadster might be good for you as you can change the straps to whatever your moods takes you - you can have a pink strap for summer days or go for blue alligator for rainy days. The choice is available.

Let us know what you decide ;)

The two-tone Rolex is really a classic. As chanel-girl mentioned, I would go for the two-tone anytime. Don't worry about your age....

5 years ago I think the all gold yellow Rolex is too old for me, now I am eyeing one!

Rolex's resale value is defintely much much better than Tag or Cartier.

Look forward to see your choice of watch....
