Hello ladies,
I probably shouldn't be buying a watch right now, but I think I will. I'm torn between two chopard happy sport watches. Both are pre-owned, same price, and same amount of diamonds. One is round yellow gold and the other is square SS. I really like the square shape, but I love gold. I wear mixed metals often so both would be fine. The SS is only a year old and has no signs of wear, but the gold is about 10 years old and has some wear. Which should I go for?

I would choose the SS...although I do prefer the white metals. I agree with your habit of mixing metals, especially with a SS watch. I think that in general you "expect" to see a watch made out of stainless.

I was originally looking for the SS then I came across the gold which DBF really prefers. I feel like the gold is a better buy, but it is pretty flashy for daily wear.

is it solid gold? or plated? if it's plated & it has a lot of wear, then I don't think it's a better buy. if it's solid, you may be able to have the wear buffed off to a certain extent. the amount of wear is another reason why I chose the SS.

tPFers Chaz & GnomeNisse will be able to give you VERY good advice about this. hopefully those lovely ladies will post here.

Solid gold with only light scratches. No scratches on the sapphire face. Small chip to one of the cabachon lugs. The style is still made today. The retail on it is about $10,000 more than the SS version.

I'm really torn. I like them both. The gold is a steal, but the SS might be more wearable. I have olive skin so yellow gold looks really good with my skin tone (that's why DBF likes the gold). I do like the square shape though.

Perfect sense! Do you think the diamonds were as high quality 10 years ago?

As frick and frack says, the diamonds will definately be of the same quality,Chopard always maintains very strict quality levels so you'll have no worries on that score. If your heart is leaning towards the gold and you feel you will love it most and wear it lots...go for it!!
