I have been lusting after a J-12 for so long, but know that in this economy it's never going to happen....so I've looked around at other reasonably priced ceramic watches and decided I like Swiss Legend Karamicas the best. Unfortunately, I've never seen one in person so I'm finding it hard to decide on one. Hopefully you girls can help!

1. Anyone who owns one or who has tried one on- Are these absolutely huge watches? I know they say "ladies" but do they still look feminine despite their 38-42mm size?

2. Is there a big difference in person between a 38mm and 42mm case watch or is it negligible? I ask because there appears to be random discrepancies in size making some of the karamicas 38mm and some 42mm.

3. Which one would you buy if you could buy one black and one white?

Thanks so much in advance!!!! Oh, and if anyone has any alternative suggestions for a watch that's like a J12 but has its own personality and isn't knock-offish, please feel free to mention it. I've read back on past threads and have seen some I like, but still liked the karamica the best from the on-line pics at least.

Oh, and for reference, one source has the first black watch at 39mm, second at 38mm and third at 42mm. It also has the first white watch at 39mm and the second one at 38mm.

I also love the look of ceramic watches! I don't have any experience with this brand/watch, but I like the white on white best.

Have you thought about this Michele?

Thanks so much! I'm leaning towards white on white too. I'm hoping the MOP isn't too pink on the SL watches.

I love that Michele watch. Do you know what it's called? I'm sure I can find it if I just google Michele white ceramic watch! Thanks so much for your opinion!

Its hard to know with MOP until you actually see it. Any chance you'll be able to see it IRL?

The Michele watch is called Tahitian, and it's easy to find if you google. Not sure about your budget, but you can probably find one online for less than $800.

I own the bottom first - white mop on white. Thanks to TPF member, starbucksqueen. You can do a search and you can see modeling pics of hers. I bought it after seeing hers. I was initially wowed by the watch and was quite apprehensive wearing such a big watch i.e. 39mm for my tiny wrist. My wrist is less than 5" and had the bracelet links removed as much as possible. Now I love the size and feels weird wearing any watches smaller than that. I'm definitely going for 38mm on my next watch purchase - a J12 and Christian Dior Christal. OK, back to this Swiss Legend Karamica. For the price you get, it's really value for money. How in the world you get swiss movement (not swiss made though but who cares?); pure white ceramic, mother of pearl dial, date function and of course bezel full of diamonds!! BUT the diamonds are single cut though so they won't be that sparkly/blingy. Also it would be difficult to read the time for those who are bifocal?? So better get the dark faced one for easy reading. Also it's the most similar looking one to a J12!

I like the white ceremic with the black face. I was like you, fell in love with the Chanel J12 but could not justify paying that much for a "fashion" watch...anyway. I ended up getting a TechnoMarine ceremic watch on World of Watches

I got it for Xmas last year for under 1k. The diamonds are full cut and very very sparkly!! I love it. Brown is unusual for ceremic since most of them are black or white. I love mine. Good luck with your decision, be sure to post pictures once you get yours :)

I love that the diamonds on the technomarine are sparkly! I can't find a SL dealer around me, but I bet I can find a Technomarine one and go check them out. Thanks!

Thanks so much for the info! What color do you find the MOP to be in real life? My fav thing about the J12 is the way the white matches all the way through, so if you add diamonds they really pop. I'm worried about a very pink or very yellow MOP that distracts from the diamonds. What do you think?
