I just bought a black/white Cheval Surprise cotton scarf this weekend and of course I HAD to wear it today, but it was a little humid so I got, shall we say, "dewy." Also, I know I'll be wearing it a lot more this summer and I want to be prepared. I'd like to keep my new scarf as clean and white as possible- what's the best way to care for it? Should I just rinse it in some cold water? (it's not really dirty, I just don't want to put it away as it is) Should I add soap? If so, what's best? All I have on hand that I would even consider using is original Dawn (I remember hearing this is OK for delicates?) or some Whole Foods organic/all-natural all-purpose liquid soap which I use for handwashing lingerie. Any tips to avoid color bleed on the cotton? Thanks!

I'm just going to take mine in for dry cleaning. I have an amazing cleaner near me that's PERC free (the toxic chemical 95% of cleaners use), and my scarves come out looking better than when I bought them. It's also only $2. No mental hassle, and I don't have to press them either.

Good luck with the washing!
