Has anyone ever washed a fantasy tweed jacket? If so, does anyone have any advice or tips? I have recently purchased a vintage Chanel jacket and it is quite dirty. But I am too scared to trust a dry cleaner to clean the jacket :s Does anyone have any advice?

I would ask your Chanel SA or any other SA that you've bought RTW from and see where they bring their clothes for dry cleaning. Generally, the luxury houses bring their clothes to the same 1 or 2 dry cleaners local to the area.

Totally understand your concerns though, always a bit scary to trust someone else to take care of your luxury items. Good luck!

Due to the delicate nature of the fabrics used in these jackets, they are not able to be laundered or hand washed. The tweed itself is amix of various fibers with different qualities, the individual yarns may shrink at different rates, and the silk lining may not fare too well. Plus you may need to press or steam it back into shape. Unless this is something you do routinely or are comfortable doing, dry cleaning would be better. You might consider removing the buttons to guard against breakage or loss during cleaning.

Professional dry clean only (such as in 5-star hotel), and don't forget to tell them to protect buttons before laundry. Once I send to local dry clean shop (not professional one, I think) and they ruin my Desrues buttons. Believe me, it takes few months to order new buttons from Paris.

Great advice! This is what I always do. After 5 international moves, I ask Chanel where they send their dry cleaning. In Bangkok all my designer items including Chanel jackets go to Mandarin Oriental's dry cleaning service, every week. Needless to say I know them well now. In London I send to the cleaners Hermes and Chanel recommend.
Edited to add, if you have high end vintage stores locally who may carry vintage Couture then ask them where to go.

@DoRaePEET do you know how to go about ordering buttons from past seasons? I have a jacket from 2013 and 2018 both missing one button? thanks!!

I’ve been told by my SA that Chanel guarantee keeping buttons they produced for every pieces for 10 years but RTW in past 5 years will be free of charge. However, I don’t know if they have different policy in different area, so you should ask your local boutique.
