STAY FAR AWAY FROM MINE PLASTIC SURGERY CLINIC IN SEOUL

I am writing this review in the hopes of saving someone else any of the hardship I have had to endure because of this clinic. I have been waiting to write this for a while now, and I finally feel strong enough to come forward about my experience.

This doctor has managed to ruin my nose to the point where I am asked if I was in an accident. I first went to Dr. Lee for primary rhinoplasty in March of 2019. Right after the surgery, I knew something wasn’t right. My nose looked like a crooked hawk nose, with my columella drooping down to the side. The doctor reassured me that this was only due to swelling and to give it some time. Well 9 months went by, and the appearance of my nose just got worse as the days went on. He told me to come back to Korea for a revision surgery in November 2019. Although I was grateful that he had owned up to his horrible work, and offered to fix it....I still had to find a way to pay for another trip to Korea (from Canada), and also had to take 6 more weeks off from work to recover. Here we are, August of 2020, and my nose is still completely asymmetrical. The issues presented to him after the first surgery were not addressed in the revision, and now I am left with a disfigured nose in the middle of my face. The best part is that on their website, it states that they offer “soft nose” surgery....claiming that you will never need to come back for a revision because the results are so good....that’s a bunch of bs.

I have asked Dr. Lee to fix the obvious issues, or to give me my money back. He refuses to do so, and says that “some asymmetry” is to be expected. Well I have posted my images to this review for you to be the judge. Would you be ok with something like this, after spending thousands upon thousands of dollars on a cosmetic procedure, and losing thousands of dollars of income during the recovery process? I am very aware that all surgical intervention comes with risk...but it is up to the doctor to make it right when things don’t go as planned or discussed. I have posted pictures of my nose “pre-revision” (after the first rhinoplasty), and pictures of my nose “post-revision” (after the second rhinoplasty). The reason I am posting both is to show that the asymmetry was in fact there prior to the revision. This should have been fixed the second time around.

I will say that the reception staff, and nurses were very kind and welcoming. However, I am not paying for “kind” when it comes to plastic surgery. I am paying for precision...and unfortunately that is exactly what Dr. Lee lacks. Do yourself a favour and do your research...please don’t make the same mistake I did, and let someone who is clearly inexperienced in rhinoplasty work on your nose. There isn’t much you can do to hide something like that in the middle of your face. This is a very big decision, and I regret very deeply ever letting this doctor touch my nose. I also regret filling out any surveys and comment cards in their waiting room, which they asked me to submit before returning to Canada, and also felt pressured to do so. It’s very difficult to comment on a surgical procedure that needs several months to heal before seeing the results. I did comment that the staff were wonderful in terms of kindness, and making me feel comfortable. But as mentioned above...these are very small factors when you are dealing with a major surgery that has lasting effects on your appearance and mental health. I would much rather deal with a cold or arrogant doctor who knows exactly what he’s doing, and will deliver the desired results.

Let’s keep in mind that I am currently in my 20s...which should be a wonderful time of life. I have basically been in hiding for the last year and a half just wishing that I had never stepped foot in his office in the first place. The toll that this has taken on my mental health is insurmountable, and I would not wish this upon anyone. Recently, I have been in touch with a rhinoplasty revision specialist in Canada, who has estimated a starting cost of $20,000 to fix the damage that I have been left with. Unfortunately, I now feel very limited with my options for a third rhinoplasty since my cartilage has already been harvested from behind my ear. This is a very limited resource...I only have so much left to work with. I urge you to please be careful with who you allow to work on your face. If I could go back in time, I would NEVER have allowed him to operate on me.

First of all, thank you for sharing your experience. I know you are going through hard time, but stay strong. I see some augmented asymmetry on your nostrils post surgery. It’s not that noticeable when you are facing forward, but I can see why it bothers you when seen from below. Did Dr. Lee offer to do revision? His work doesn’t seem that bad in my opinion.

Of course it bothers me when I’ve spent thousands of dollars. The last year and half has been a nightmare. I asked for him to fix the remaining issues, and he refuses. He has turned his back on me, and left me out to dry and to deal with this by myself. I feel very lost, and now I’m broke. I don’t have many other options. I wish I would’ve done some more research before committing to MINE PLASTIC SURGERY. That is why I am posting this review, so that no one else has to endure these results and treatment. I was the guinea pig for anyone thinking about going here for nose surgery. If you’re thinking about having rhinoplasty done, please go see a plastic surgeon who SPECIALIZES in rhinoplasty. Dr. Lee does many other kinds of plastic surgeries, not just rhinoplasty. For some, this may be seen as a good thing. But when you are having such intricate surgery done on your face, you want someone who specializes in that particular thing.

Do you happen to have a picture of bottom angle (looking up) pre-surgery? I’m curious as to why you chose Mine PS, because I’ve never heard of the clinic before. If possible, could you share your thought and approximately how much you’ve paid?

So sorry this happened to you. I would post this in as many places as you can, Chinese and Korean ps forums included. Unless you affect their business, they won't take your requests for compensation for being botched, twice I might add, seriously, so show as many people you can around the world what kind of work they do. When they message you to take the reviews down and threaten to sue, that's when you'll know you have their attention. Never go back to that place, even if they offer free revision.

Thank you so much for your support. I can’t believe someone above said that his work “isn’t that bad”....I didn’t pay thousands of dollars for something I can’t stand looking at on my own face!
I have tried posting my review on google, it had 3 views that I know of (because I received an email telling me so) and now it’s no longer there! They somehow managed to get this exact same review taken down...and it’s not inappropriate or breaking any rules....I am simply telling my truth. I’ve tried contacting google to see why my review isn’t showing up, but unfortunately I can’t get a hold of anyone during Covid.
Their rating on google is a total lie! It’s very clear to me now that bad reviews just get “reported” or taken down, and all of the good reviews are coaxed. It’s simply an impossibility that they only have one 1-star review, and the client didn’t leave a comment....so obviously it couldn’t be reported for any reason.
Is there anyone who can help me spread the word?? I don’t have social media, so it’s very hard for me. I just want as many people as possible to know about this place....if I can deter even one person from going here....then I’ve done my job. Please go anywhere else, and most importantly....do your research and make sure they have lots of before and after pictures.

UPDATE
I was finally able to post my review on google. I made a few tweaks and it is now available for viewing by the general public....I’m very relieved because I know that will reach more people!

OP so sorry about your experience. I can totally relate. I had revision rhino at VIP clinic and my results were also subpar with an astronomical pricetag. I hate my results so much I wish I had done my due diligence before having the revision. My primary rhino was fantastic like yours and all I needed was tip refinement but Dr. Lee @ViP went overboard and my results look so fake & ridiculous. All my ear cartilage was used for my primary so I don't have enough for a revision. You still have the option to use your rib cartilage in combination with septal cartilage for revision.

Exactly. I think these clinics pay google to remove the reviews. Same as Realself, so many glowing fake reviews from clinics. Imo if you can, then visit the clinic and see how the patients look like IRL. Most clinics photoshop their B/A heavily or use stock photos.

I’m so sorry to hear that you had a bad experience. But my primary rhino was not fantastic lol....it was terrible! Dr. Lee at MINE realized what a terrible job he did, and had no choice but to offer me a revision. Although he fixed a lot of the columella drooping, I’m still left with alar retraction, and severe asymmetry. All in all, not the results I was hoping for at all. I’m hesitant to post my before pictures prior to any surgery because you will all wonder why on earth I ever went for rhinoplasty in the first place. When I look back on my original nose in pictures, I am very sad to think I wanted to change it at all. I regret the whole experience very much.

My bad. I thought you went to Mine for revision after primary. I also regret ever touching my nose. I'm trying to find a surgeon who can reconstruct it back or close to its' original form. My primary results were so nice and natural but I got greedy and wanted narrower tip and some projection.

I’m really really sorry that you’ve had to deal with undesirable results as well. It’s the worst feeling. Especially because it feels like you have no control over it.
