Wapity wrist strap made from different leather?

Hi all,

I went to the gym last night and took my wapity with me. I accidently spilt my water bottle on my wapity and splashed the leather wrist strap. I always thought the wrist strap was made from vachetta, but this morning, when I went to check on it to see if there were water marks/stains, it looked perfect! There are no marks or stains on where I spilt my water. So, my question is: is the leather on the wrist strap different from the leather used on the handles of the purses?

I thought that too because I've gotten some water on my wapity and it looked fine. However I don't know for sure.

Some of the newer vachetta handles feel coated to me, like the BH bags. The don't seem to patina the same way either IMO.
