Hi
I'm new here, and love this forum! I am thinking of buying my first Chanel bag, and this one really caught my eye.
I would love any opinions on the Caviar filigree CC Vanity Case.
Also, would you suggest beige and black or white and black?

Thanks so much!

I have a blue filigree vanity case and love it! It’s super fun and casual, and I don’t see many people with it. My only complaint is the chain on mine (medium size) is too short to really be worn crossbody, but I don’t care how silly it looks and do so anyways.

I think the beige/black is so beautiful, so that gets my vote. Share pics when you get your bag!

Thank you! I know, I am tall and love a crossbody bag! But I love this, so may be willing to deal.
Any recommendations for a very first Chanel?

Also, any sites you can recommend for authentic bags? (If this is not ok to ask, let me know)

I love the beige and black combo. I find it to be so classic and timeless but without such a stark contrast as black and white. I feel that the beige's warm tone gives some softness to the look.

A couple of things:
1) I have heard that the vanity bags are a little troublesome to open. As in, if you wanted to grab something quickly, it may be a bit tricky to open and get things in and out due to the design. It appears the version in the photo has the crossbody/shoulder strap attached to the zippers. So in order to open the bag more easily, you would probably have to take it off you shoulder, either hold a handle and unzip or set it down on a surface to unzip. If you are in a hurry, it may feel a little annoying.
2) Just make sure, for either beige or white, that you don't wear denim while wearing this bag crossbody. Just to prevent color transfer. Also, the bottom is a light color as well, just be careful where you place it since the bag has no feet.

But if either of the things above don't really bother you, then I don't see why not!

I am 5’7”. When I wear the bag crossbody, it sits at/slightly above my hipbone. I agree with @lill_canele that it’s slightly more difficult to open the bag. My shoulder strap is attached closer to the handle (on one side of the zipper). So what I do is I place anything I need to retrieve often (phone) on the half of the bag away from the shoulder strap so I can quickly unzip and grab it. This is a minor inconvenience for me but would be a deal breaker for my sister.

For a first Chanel, get what you love. It’s different for everyone. I thought my first would be a jumbo classic flap. When I saw it in person, I was underwhelmed. I fell in love with the boy and got it a few years later.

It took me a few years of thinking and trying before I finally got my first bag. Luckily, I had time and wasn’t in a rush. If the same is for you, I’d consider going into stores to look at bags and try them on before deciding. You might find a bag you just can’t stop thinking about. As far as pre loved sites, I don’t have much experience with them so unfortunately can’t help much.

This is SUCH good advice....and this is the most I have ever spent on a bag. I am a LV girl mostly, and Chanel is largely above their price point....so I need to love it!

Very cute and I love the color combo. Does it fit your style? Do you imagine it for long-term use (+5) years?
Ultimately, this boils down to what you like and how it fits your aesthetic.
