Some of you ladies may have read my previous thread questioning the etiquette of e-ring upgrades. I recieved some great information from you all and did a lot of online research (thank you PriceScope).

Well - armed with my arsenal of info I went to the jeweler my DH purchased my ring set from and told them what I wanted. Their in store selection did not match my hopeful diamond criteria so we went to their online resource to find the right stone.

We found an AGS certified Ideal/Ideal, 1.61 ctw I, SI1 stone. The virtual loupe was completely clean from underneath at 16x, and had some little feathers from above at 16x. I paid the deposit for them to bring this stone in because it was the closet they had to 1.7-1.8 range that was in my budget. Well - they actually had NO 1.7-1.89 stones available. There was the 1.61 ctw I picked, and then 2.02 ctw or greater. Hmmm....

So anyway, that brings me to today - the stone is arriving in store today and I am at work waiting for the call....lol - I hate waiting, I am the most impatient person I know, lol.

I figured I could come here and you ladies would understand my nervous anxiety.

The good thing about this process is if I don't like the stone when I see it they send it back and I can select another stone from the online database, which I am told changes daily.

For your reference, I currently have a 1 ctw, F, SI1, GIA cert. good/good. Oh, and my 1 c meaures 6.15-6.18 x 4.02. The stone they ordered was 7.55-7.58x??(I can't remember)...so yes, this will be significantly larger than what I currently wear.

Well - thanks for letting me nervously wait with you all....:smile1: :sweatdrop: :smile1:

Woot - I just got the call - the stone is in the store, and according to the gals there it is beautiful....:yahoo:

Well I am very excited to go and see it with my own 2 eyes....should be able to leave work in an hour or so - so I will update what is becoming my "wait blog" when I get back from the viewing.

Thanks Cristina, you know I am pretty excited about this - although I started to feel a twinge guilty too....(that's another story though).

I would just set it in the setting I already have. To me, the setting holds more sentimental value than the center stone. DH bought this setting for me because he said it was unique and different, and not too girly.

Guilt, schmilt. The only thing you should feel guilty about is blinding people when you wear that sucker :graucho:

I don't think I've ever seen a picture of your original engagement ring. I'd love to see the setting (I'm not girly, either!). Post a picture when you can!

AAHHH - I do love it - I had my ring off when I sat down to see the stone; my biggest concern was the color difference - going from F to I. BUT - I guess cut does make a HUGE difference because I could not tell a difference in the color. This diamond sparkles sparkles sparkles, the cut is amazing (AGS Ideal) and under the microscope at 10x I really could not see the inclusions.

The woman helping me said she hasn't seen an SI1 this clean ever (although she may get paid to say this, lol). Overall - I feel I got a tremendous value and a gorgeous new stone. It is significantly larger than the 1ctw I had, the cut is amazing, I can see NO inclusions, and it does not present like an I (color) diamond.

It is being set right now (into the setting I had) and I can pick it up after 7pm this evening. Pictures will have to wait until tomorrow morning because DH will make faces at me if I am doing it tonight, lol!!!

Thanks ladies for being excited with me/for me!! I feel very fortunate and blessed to be able to do this (I hope I am now and will continue to be the kind of wife who deserved such a fantastic upgrade :shame:).

Pics to come tomorrow AM - :graucho:

Mine is an H and I think the cut "masks" that pretty well. Until I SAW the H in person, I was ruling it out just based on specs. And while next time Id like to go whiter, I wouldn't pass up another knockout H.

Well I am wearing the ring and I am extremely happy with it!!! If any of you hear me complain of DSS please, PLEASE, please, E-slap me upside my head, mm-kay!!!

I even tried to sneak some photos but I definitely need the natural light of day to do this correctly - so - I can't wait to show you ladies my new stone in the morning - the hubby is still at work - he hasn't even seen it yet....gee aren't we romantic, lol!!

Here are some photos of me wearing my new diamond....please excuse the dry hands - I hate to wear lotion during the day.
