I was on a short vacation lately and wanted to buy my summer fragrance at Louis Vuitton. I love personalisation, so engraving is a must. I even brought another bottle with me, that I got earlier this year to have that monogrammed as well. The city had 2 stores, both of them has the perfume selection and also the engraving machine. I went to the bigger one first. They told me that the engraving machine was broken. Well... that's a bummer, but I am not giving up, so I set sail for the smaller store. They were pleased to tell me that of course, they can engrave. The machine is operating. I paid. They tore the perfume box apart and disappeared in the back.
A few minutes later the SA came back with no smile, no monogram and the torn box. "Sorry, the machine is broken." He even summoned the manager for some reason and she told me that this is just like a McDonald's ice cream machine, working on Monday, broken on Tuesday.
Well... I was a little upset, if I knew that this is that common, then I wouldn't even brought my other bottle and maybe I would have just bought this one way earlier at home (we don't have an engraving machine at the local store).
What is your experience? Is it really this common?

Something similar happened to me… Where I live, weirdly, there are 3 LV boutiques in the mall. The large main boutique, a smaller men’s boutique, and then one inside of Bloomingdale’s. I purchased my fragrance inside of the Bloomingdale’s boutique (I feel that their customer service is usually a little better) and when I asked about engraving, the SA told me that their machine is broken. She told me to come back and try again in a week to have it engraved, as the machine should hopefully be working again by then. But since there are two other LV locations in the same mall, naturally, I tried those as well. When I tried the men’s boutique, the SA had to check in the back to make sure the machine was working before he could tell me yes or no on the engraving basically. Luckily, that machine was working and I got my engraving. But I would say, if the engraving is very important to you and you know exactly which fragrance you’d like, ordering online would be your best bet!

Do we think there have been errors with untrained staff? Perhaps lack of trained staff working?
I wanted to get a cord replaced on a Virgil Abloh LV bracelet and a flagship store told me they only have ONE staff member trained to tie the knots and she was on holidays. Seriously???
