Am visiting NYC in September. Planning visits to Madison and Wall Street for sure but am wondering if I should give Manhasset a try as well. Grew up going to NYC so am quite familiar with moving around the 5 burroughs but outside the city is like no-man's land to me.

How far is Manhasset from Midtown Manhattan? What's the best way to get there - train or car? Is their inventory even worth the trip?

TIA

Manhasset has lots of bangles, scarves and shawls... as far as I can tell, not as much in terms of bags and small leather items. I only know how to get there by car, just down Northern Blvd. But if I were you I'd stick with Madison and Wall St...

i don't think it is worth the trip to manhasset. the h is new so they have more than they did in the past but still not worth the trip. there are lots of other high end boutiques in the americana but not better than you'll find in the city.

I just recently started my H collection and my first (and best) experience thus far has been at the Manhasset location. The new location has more on display than the older one, but my SA brought out tons and tons of stuff for me from the back. The SM was a sweetheart and very accommodating as well.
It's a different experience from the larger H stores for sure. I think it just depends on what you're looking for. I much rather drive to this location and load up my goodies in the car than schelp it around public transportation. But if you're staying in the city, this might be a little out of the way...

Manhasset is about 20 miles from Manhattan. You can either take the train to Manhasset or Port Washington (actually closer to Americana Shopping Center) and take a cab. Not that far from the station and there are plenty of designer boutiques located there to keep you very busy for hours. Renting a car in Manhattan and driving out is not worth the hassle IMO unless you have someplace else to go on LI or just want to drive around. I grew up in this area and used to walk to Americana with the GFs back when it wasn't a designer hot spot. That was about a million years ago! They have turned it into a Rodeo Drive .KWIM?

Thanks everyone!! It sounds pretty unanimous that that I should pass on Manhasset. This will make DH very happy. I think he is getting a little afraid.

Generally trips to NYC go like this: me + a very dear friend + credit cards + good restaurants and bars = Herculean shopping expeditions, lonnnggg nights, and very little sleep. Can't wait!! :yahoo: :woohoo: :yahoo: :woohoo:
