The squares are metal--possibly aluminum? There is a leather (possibly suede?) base underneath. The inside is quite worn.@karicake is the material of the squares leather, or metal, or? How big is it?
Hmmm. Tano Expert's site appears to have lapsed. I'll try the Tano site--thank you. Here’s an old thread with a Tano person.
Ask Tano Expert
Hey all! As always, I'm happy to answer everyone's questions about Tano's materials, colors, styles, etc... If you post your questions here, I'll be able to find them more easily, as I don't always have time to read through all of the threads. (And please remember that as per TPF's...forum.purseblog.com
and here’s the current website, still in business, you could shoot them an email with a photo. Happy hunting! It’s a great bag congrats
Man, @Nibb, I went to Tano’s site earlier and it was out of order or something, so didn’t think further about it. tano expert has been gone since 2015, so no luck there. Here’s an old thread with a Tano person.

Love a good vintage hunt! You have to click around on the site for a live link but the site is dated 2020, yes hopefully the same company. By the size of the Tano thread they certainly were popular. It looks like they have had a good run, very popular in the 50s & 60 too.Man, @Nibb, I went to Tano’s site earlier and it was out of order or something, so didn’t think further about it. tano expert has been gone since 2015, so no luck there.
The website’s a good idea, if it’s still the same company. I remember when Tano was super-popular here.
