I'm looking to buy a vintage Coach bag from an online seller, but this picture of the zipper (attached) worries me. The threads have gone green from what I believe is the brass oxidizing. Is there any way of repairing this without taking out the zipper entirely?

Thanks so much for your help!

I have had luck with removing verdigris with Tarnex, available inmost grocery stores. It's great to use on brass zippers because it does not stain the zipper cloth. I think it is there because some one used a brass cleaner on it and it left the residue. You can also try ammonia.
