I'm currently trying to decide whether I want to purchase a vintage Chanel bag from my birth year or a brand new bag this year. I've convinced myself that I *must* have a vintage Chanel bag from my birth year, but I'd also like to go shopping for a new one. The problem is that it's hard to decide since Chanel has removed prices from their website.

Here is the bag that I have been lusting over from Xupes: https://www.xupes.com/handbags/prod...ntage-small-classic-single-full-flap-bag.html.

£2699 is roughly $3600, I believe. Is this a good price for vintage Chanel? I've never bought a pre-loved bag before but I do see other flap bags from recent years with lower prices (and sometimes bigger sizes) on fashionphile for example. Since the website took their prices, I'm not really sure how to compare this price to a current small flap bag in lamb skin leather.

Also, I saw Xupes was recommended as a second hand boutique here, but is there any chances this could be fake?
Does anyone else prefer vintage over brand new?
Thanks!

Hello Mimi, I am new on this forum. I hope you get this message. Which Japanese sellers have you bought from? I want to buy a vintage Chanel. Kindest regards Karin
yes, I have purchased from boom2haten, brand_jfa, and brandearauction.

Since I’ve googled their locations according to the addresses posted on my packages, I know they own big warehouses in Tokyo and suburban area (brand_jfa) in Japan.

Because these businesses are conducted in business buildings in Japan (not just small family Ebayer), they must have been certified and registered with Japanese police department.

I have confidence everything I have purchased from them are authentic. Also by the quality of the items received, the authenticity can be easily identified.

Also, I know brand_off has several stores in Tokyo and Osaka Japan. I haven’t had experience dealing with them though, their prices are higher.

brand_off stores are located in the popular tourist spots in the major cities. Maybe it’s because of store expenses, their costs are higher.

What kind of bags you’re leaning towards?
If you’re are interested at a Chanel Classic double Flap, I would highly recommend boom2haten. They have a largest collection with least expensive prices.

I can show you my purchase from them if you are interested.

Hi there, sorry to bump this after a while but may I know how do you figure out which year exactly is the bag you are interested in made in? I'm curious as from what I know, the respective series number usually covers 2-3 years of production year. Hope you don't mind sharing if you have any other info! :)

Hi, sorry to jump in.

Here is what I did,
Type in ‘Chanel serial number‘ on google, a few websites will pop out on your screen and provide you the information. I used the chart on yoogi’s closet website.

Where are you purchasing the bag from? I would be very careful when buying items from a preloved seller unless they are selling through a preloved platform.

I recently purchased a Chanel bag privately and it was not how I expected; there were stitching faults on the bag that were not stated. I find on a lot of preloved websites they usually overstate faults and have very clear photos. The seller was also not very forthcoming, where as usually on a preloved selling platform it’s easier to get a refund.

I would also suggest sending the images to be authenticated to ensure it’s real and always ensure you pay through PayPal as you’re protected. Never pay through bank transfer as it’s hard to get your money back.

To be honest, you can get buy really beautiful bags from the preloved market, but if there is any room for doubt it’s not worth chancing it.. Enjoy your purchase :)
