Hi all! I am new to Van Cleef and I am so looking forward to buy my first piece. I am debating to get the hammered or the guilloche pendant in yellow gold. I want a piece that I could pass down to my daughter some day :) I considered getting the 5 motif bracelet, but I think it is not really convenient for me with a toddler. From my research, guilloche appear to scratch more easily, though wearing it on the neck might not cause too much scratches. I like that it is very shiny and makes a beautiful heirloom. On the other hand, I love how the hammered version is more durable/ less scratch prone. Also, the hammered version is lower in price but much harder to get. I like both pieces almost equally, though I am more leaning towards Hammered due to the lower price :) Which would be your preference? Thank you so much for your insights!

Ohh how fun to shop for your very first piece of jewelry by VCA! As a forever piece that you can freely enjoy yourself and keep it looking as pristine as possible when you pass it down to your daughter, I would recommend hammered or pave. I'm leaning more toward pave since VCA uses some of the best diamonds and you can dress it up and down. Otherwise, you can't go wrong with hammered and it's surely worth the wait. Usually you'll be notified by your SA much sooner than the quoted waiting time. The last hammered piece I asked my SA to order took about 8 weeks to arrive and he quoted me 3-4 months.

Thank you so much for your suggestions! Pave is very beautiful, and I agree that it is versatile to wear especially the sweet size. I already have a diamond necklace in my collection so I'm hoping to add a piece with plain gold. Great to know that the wait time is not as long as expected. I think I'll go with hammered :)

I have and love the Guilloche pendant. I do not see any wear on it (I do not stack necklaces), just clean it often. I think you cannot go wrong with either. If you can visit a store it could help a lot seeing it in person. Enjoy your purchase and show us what you decided :D Super excited for you!

Thank you so much LuckyMe14! If you don't mind sharing, how long have you own the Guilloche pendant? How do you clean the pendant? I agree that seeing in person would help to make the decision :) I heard from my SA yesterday that she hasn't seen the hammered pendant in 2023.. which I think it might mean that it is coming soon? lol

I feel that the hammered pendant looks a bit more causal and the guilloche is more formal.. not sure if it is just me that feel this way.. I usually dress very causal (ie. jeans, t-shirts, shorts, etc) so I think hammered pendant might be more suitable for me.. what do you guys think?

Agree! I have a Cartier 2 Diamond Love necklace that I wear casually to work, shopping, etc. If I didn’t have that necklace I probably would have returned my guilloche. I think it might be a little too much for daily wear, at least for me. I kept it because I needed a simple necklace to wear for dressier occasions like dinners, parties, and weddings.
