Hello everyone. This question is for those who actually own a lizard wallet or bag:

Can you confirm if there is ALWAYS a dash beside the Hermès stamp, for lizard skins? I am looking at purchasing a vintage Bearn wallet in lizard and it does not have the dash beside the stamp, so was wondering if they only started doing this in a certain year? If it was only for certain "types" of lizard?

Or if it was something inconsistently done by Hermès?

TIA, any help is greatly appreciated!

No, not always. Some very vintage items do not have any designation stamp (this goes for all exotics, not just lizard). Newer items will usually have either one or two dashes depending on the variety of lizard.:flowers:

Thanks. I just confirmed with the seller that the wallet is from 2010.

Would that be considered "newer", and should that have the dash? Or would that be considered "older" and may not have come with the dash?

Interesting— I would consider 2010 newer. Would you be able to post a clear picture of the heat stamp on this item? I would also note that in some cases, the exotic designation symbol is below the heat stamp instead of to the side. If the exotic designation symbol is indeed below the heat stamp, it may be obscured by a pocket.

Thank you! I never thought of that.
I have asked the seller for another photo, but she is super unresponsive, so who knows how long that'll take. Haha.

Glad to help!:flowers: I’ll be standing by in case the seller does end up sending a picture, but based on the production date for this item, I am almost certain that the symbol is hidden under the pocket. We shall see…
