Hello All,

I have a dilemma that needs decision within 12 hours from now.

I have the option between Victoria II Tote Bag (Fourre-Tout), size 35 in either:
- Ebene (dark brown) Clemence leather with Toile Gibeciere (Olive/ army green canvas) combination
OR
- Brown (natural) Barenia leather and White Toile canvas combination.

In my Hermes novice opinion that the Ebene and olive canvas combo is harder (more rare) to find than the Barenia and white toile combo. But I know Barenia is very popular and sought after. Perhaps someone can chime in on their opinion about this ?

I want my Mom to use this bag also, so we can take turns as I do with her other bags. :p Most probably when I use this bag, I'll use it for overseas traveling (business mainly).

Appreciate any feedbacks from anyone! Thanks so much in advance! :hbeat:

without seeing pics of the bag i would pick barenia combo - i always love this combo in any H bags and i love white stitching..this combo also feels lighter and more summery...although the white will show dirt easily if used heavily..whilst the ebene/olive combo will not have this showing dirt problem!

but it really depends on your own and your mom's colour preferences and also how the bags may match with your wardrobes.....

Hello chincac,

Thank you so much for your response.
I'm attaching the Ebene Clemence/Olive Canvas picture so you have a better idea of how it looks.

Unfortunately I cannot find any Barenia/White toile Victoria pics on the net, but I think most people will know what this combo looks like.

Hope that'll help. :smile1:

i prefer toile to canvas. so i would go for barenia with toile.

i think you should disregard barenia being sought after in your decision. it is, but for a very small group who are die-hard barenia fans. outside of this group, most wouldn't touch barenia with a ten foot pole.

if you can try on both, do so. it is not a popularity contest and both will have low resale value. so just buy what you love and will use most!

good luck!

Hello hanyeu,

Thank you kindly for your input and comments. Really appreciate it. :smile1:

Please pardon my ignorance here, but I thought Toile means Canvas in French ?

Heya Hanyeu,
Sorry for not replying sooner, I was traveling all of last week.
You're right, the white toile and olive toile looks different after comparing them side by side.
After much deliberation, the Barenia/Toile came home with me! :happydance:
Nightmare in maintenance but the look makes up for it. :D
Thank you again for taking the time to give your opinion about this. :)
