Vibram sole protector for Manolo Blahnik BBs?

Hello ladies!

I was wondering if any of you would have an idea about applying Vibram sole protectors to the bottoms of Manolo Blahnik suede BBs? The SA at Harrod's said that I shouldn't, and that if I really have to (i.e. when I've already worn it out), then only at the very tip of the sole. But I would still rather do it to prolong the life of the shoe. Is there any specific reason it's not recommended? Would it damage the shoe more than protect it?

I'd be grateful for any perspective. Thanks!

Get it resole before you wear. I find my manolo tips are the first to get messed up. Adding the sole gives it the extra layer that prevents all my shoes from wearing out fast.
