I have been loving the recent trend of velvet bags lately. I think they look so classy however I am prone to think that this is just a trendy/seasonal material for fall which makes me hesitant to spend $1000+ on one. What is everyone's opinion? Is the velvet bag trend just a seasonal trend? Or will we see it return year after year as a more classic option alongside leather?

Velvet is a classic. It does tend to be used more for cooler weather and / or evening but it's definitely a material that has staying power year after year.

I've never owned a velvet bag because it's more likely to get stained or worn tban leather but I think many velvet bags are gorgeous.

I think it's a seasonal thing, along with chevron, which is also having a moment because we're generally on a retro trend. I do feel that velvet bags may appear dated some years down the road, but I also am pretty certain that they will eventually come back into fashion maybe a decade later? So if you do get one in a classic silhouette, you'd be the proud owner of a gorgeous vintage bag in 15 or 20 years

Wearability aside, I'd be terrified about maintaining a velvet bag. I have a clutch, and there are already indentations from the metal clasp, from my not storing it carefully enough.
