Hi, thinking about my next purchase and curious for thoughts between the 10 motif MOP or tigers eye? I have been wanting the MOP for a while (but had to prioritize other VCA items) but saw the tigers eye in person recently and it’s so lovely. Wasn’t sure how easy TE is to style compared to MOP? Also if there is a risk they may discontinue TE imminently? Would love to hear thoughts, and thanks in advance!

Hello! I have also been thinking of the tiger eye 10 motif lately! Great minds .My take is that the 10 motif tiger eye should be an easy style to wear as it is basically like wearing a gold necklace (if that makes sense) because of the colour similarity. The only difference is that the tiger eye is more interesting than gold because of the striations. When I tried on the tiger eye, it blended into my skin (I guess this would depend on your skin tone/colour), probably not something that I would wear on my bare skin. I guess it depends whether you want something more eye-catching, if so, the MOP probably pops more. I wear a lot of tan/black/navy sweaters and thought of getting the tiger eye ten motif to add that "subtle" touch of pop to my outfits.:P However, if you have always wanted the MOP, then I think that is what you should get. Else it will always be on your list. I love the 10 motif-so versatile. Do get it with the 5 motif matching set so that you can combine to make it 15 motif. I find this to be so versatile! Good luck deciding and let us know your decision.

I happen to have both pieces, and would say of the two, the MOP gets more use as I tend to think of the TE as a special piece that works best with certain colours or styles of outfits.
Also, I think I would be able to swap out TE for MOP instead in most instances and still have a look that works well, but may not be able to do so in reverse in all cases.
So I guess my view would depend on whether you are looking for a dependable and beautiful staple, or something that is more unique with the understanding it might be worn less.

I don’t have either piece but I love tiger eye. I have the lucky butterfly earrings and white the mop is pretty the tiger eye is what catches my eye in the mirror. I find my earrings go with all colours. Both stones are equally neutrals. My issue with the 10 mop is I am not a Pearl person and it feels like a Pearl necklace. But I think both are great choices for most.

Hello! Thank you for your thoughtful reply! We are like VCA soul sisters! :) I didn’t think about the TE being like a gold necklace but you’re right, and for that reason, it should be relatively easy to style. I typically wear light neutral colors (white, beige, camel), and don’t wear darker colors, so I think TE could still work to pop with those colors?! TE against darker color outfits will look amazing! As much as I love the MOP, and do believe it will go with more outfits for me, I just can’t stop thinking about the unique nature of the TE stone, and don’t want to miss out having it in my collection. Haha, great minds indeed, I was planning to buy the 10 together with a 5, to make a 15 necklace too :) it would be my first 10, but have been inspired by chiaoapple’s styling of 15 in various photos so always thought to pair it with a 5 for a more comfortable drop. I will keep you updated and thank you again!

Thank you! That makes complete sense to me and what I suspected, so appreciate your validating comments. Do you think TE would work well with light neutral color outfits, like white, beige and camel? Your photos are always so inspirational but I can’t seem to recall if you typically pair TE with darker or lighter outfits. I completely agree that TE is very unique and that seems to be why I can’t get it out of my head!

Thank you for your thoughts! Ah I love the lucky butterfly earrings and have been asking about these with no luck, enjoy them! I feel like this unique quality of changing color depending on the angle or light (even more so than mop) is what draws me to the TE, I think it’s a very special stone. I just hope I can wear it a lot vs just staring at it at home.

I 100% think of TE as a neutral. Have not found one thing so far that my TE VA pendant doesn’t match with. And the gold striations are just stunning. I suppose if you have a lot of competing patterns and colors, could be a lot - but most colors in simpler patterns should all be fine imo.

Also - I have been completely surprised by how neutral carnelian can be. I have the magic pendant and find that I can wear it with just about anything (esp given the option to wear it short vs a few long lengths).

I think TE will work well with neutrals in the sense that it would look natural and harmonious.
Agree with Texasgirl that you will always be able to find MOP. If you can’t get TE out of your head, you may still be thinking about it if you get the MOP first and there‘s no knowing how the availability of TE would be in the future.
Look forward to your decision — you can‘t go wrong either way. iI may come down to what you simply want more, rather than any rational reason

Thank you so much! Yes this availability what I am concerned about, and usually the heart wins :) will keep this thread updated!

I would pick the TE first followed by the MOP. TE’s are rarer to come by especially in striations that are even in colour and tone for 10 motifs. So I would suggest depending on which necklace is presented to you first and which patterns/colours of the stones speak to you. Recently the white MOPs pieces have a really nice pink undertone to them. Both go with almost everything.
