Van Astyn - Zürich Based Brand

I discovered this brand last month after searching for brands that uses Barenia leather other than Hermès or Moynat. Thanks to this purse forum I discovered Van Astyn. However, was disappointed to discover this Switzerland based brand went out of business a couple of yrs ago. I lucked out on finding this Preloved Barenia leather hobo bag from them on Depop. The hype is real..Barenia leather is freaking ah-mazing! FYI- the rattan circle bag is NOT Van Astyn just propped as an accent for the pic ....If you have a Van Astyn in your purse collection, please share.

I absolutely love bags by Van Astyn! When I have a moment, I will take all their barenia and non-barenia bags that I have and post a photo of them. The craftsmanship on these bags is unbelivable. They are so well designed - side pockets, braided handles, embossing, and spare shoulder straps. I wish they were still available. I have seen them popping on ebay from time to time. The person behind the brand is Peter Nitz. He still produces bags albeit high end ones - hand made and a lot of exotic leathers. You can find him on instagram.

I am sorry it took me so long to come back here. We lost our beloved cat the same day I was posting about Van Astyn and bags were no longer on my mind.

I love how each bag comes with it’s own dust bag that has pulls ended with leather tags of corresponding colors. And a spare, more casual strap. Love little feet on the bottom. But the best part are pockets on each sides. Comfortable access to my mobile! Don’t forget the braided handle.

Some have their logo on the bottom or on the metal parts. The attention to detail is unbelievable.

More little details. I am honestly surprised that they didn’t succeed. The craftsmanship is better than on my Hermes or Chanel bags!
