Me again…

I got my first LV when I was 20 and never used anything to treat/clean my bags besides water wipes

fast forward 18 years I want to care for the bags a bit more….so what’s everyone using to protect the vachetta leather from stains and clean/condition canvas?

TiA!

Officially they recommend using nothing if possible. If really really needed, a damp cloth, which is the equivalent of an everything-free baby wipe. That is what I use every few months. That is what many people use to have an even patina.
Since the VVN leather is porosus untreated leather, some folks use anything and everything that they use on their own skin too, I've heard people using La Prairie and Sisley to moisturise them, but those, just as any other cream make them more oily. That is why handcream people have very dark and dirty looking handles. Some people use sprays that make them waterproof, but no matter what the manufacturer claims about them, they surely affect how the leather can breathe. We have seen untreated 50 years old beautiful bags, I am really curious how the Apple Guarded ones will end up in 4 or 5 decades.
So I would say use nothing to treat them and use a natural baby wipe for cleaning. For any serious mark or damage there is the leather replacement service. They offer that exactly for this.

Oh good, so it seems I’ve been doing it right all along I feel like the patina on some of the handles isn’t even due to water stains and just random spots, not crazy but enough to notice. Is there something to clean it with to even it out? Just the damp cloth or baby wipe again?

I am also not putting anything on the vachetta and my 5 years old Propriano looks great with nice patina. The water spots won‘t be less visible once your bag gets more patina. And I‘m careful with handcreme and oil to not get it on to the handles.

You actually did, yes.
Those spots add character, but if you are not a fan, a little more regular treatment with a baby wipe can even them out a little, but they won't disappear completely.

I use colinil leather gel on my vachetta. It will npurist the vachetta. I talked to a leather specialist and he recomended that one and not spray it with anything. It makes the vachetta waterresistant, but not as much as the Apple guard.
