I purchased this bag (V Tote BB) in the beginning of January (2019) and I had asked over the phone if they had any in stock anywhere because I don’t live near a Louis Vuitton store, and it was out of stock online. They told me a Baltimore store had one and had them call me. They let me order over the phone and shipped it to me. I still have the store receipt but I haven’t used the bag much. I think maybe 3-4 times in the first week that I had it and haven’t really used it since. It has been stuffed with tissue paper since, on a shelf (not over-stuffed by any means). I grabbed it the other day and noticed that the leather part in the middle that makes the V shape had some noticeable bulging/creasing at the bottom. However if I reach into the bag and press my hand so that the entire length of the bag is completely flat (the lining) it still doesn’t flatten the bulging, it’s almost as if they used too much leather so 5$3 excess gathers right there. Does this seem like a defect? It’s the same on the front and the back, though the front is much worse. I called LV but was waiting for an associate for over 30 minutes and I was trying to hold the phone with my shoulder while I also typed at work so I ended up hanging up and sending them an email. I’m attaching pictures. Like I said, I’ve only had this bag about a month and a half, and used it less than a handful of times. Does this seem like a defect? Does anyone have experience with something like this, and have an idea about whether they will care or not? I think it’s pretty early on for me to already be seeing such significant flaws in the bag. I noticed a *teeny tiny* bend when I first got it but I thought at the time it was just because of how it had been packed in the box for shipping, and a day later noticed there was a clear substance of some kind that looked like it had been dripped and then dried on the black leather, and the metal feet at the bottom of the bag had some scratches already even though I hadn’t used it. I’m guessing they sold me one of the bags they had on the sales floor and didn’t let me know. Which I wouldn’t have a huge issue with, but I don’t think this creasing is from that, because I don’t know what customers in the store could even be doing to this bag to make it bulge like this, especially since it couldn’t have been on the sales floor that long before I bought it because I’m fairly certain it was a new release for the season I bought it.

I should also mention... the dried clear drops on the front not being a big deal was because when I took a wet cloth and wiped it, it came off immediately. Had it not, it would have been an issue of course.

I think you’re going to have to wait to see what LV says as you’re probably past the return period. It seems like a design flaw on this bag as someone else posted this same issue recently.

Whatever happened? Doing research on this bag...
I contacted LV and they basically said it’s normal for that to happen. So I guess one of the people who commented previously was correct that it’s a design flaw. I had already been thinking that the bag in general was a little too much going on for my style... the brown mono next to the black, next to the different shade of brown on the handles, with the shiny gold rings and stuff was just a lot going on for my personal taste. So I already felt iffy about the bag... and then once that started creasing after I had barely even used the bag, I decided to sell it after talking to LV.

Hi! Just to add on for anyone who is thinking of the v tote. I have a v tote mm as well (noir) and I absolutely love it. However, I just noticed a little chip on one corner after only two months of owning it (brand new from the boutique). I’m going to call my SA tomorrow, but not sure I will have any luck given it’s been over 30 days :(

I’ve been eying the v tote bb for a quick grab and go, but this is a bit disappointing to read. It’s a cute bag but it’s over $3k new here, at that price I’m not sure I’d be happy with chipping etc.

Hi Bakerjw1. Did you manage to return your bag? I do hope you get this sorted. Can I please find out whereabout is the chip?

Hi there—I did reach out to their customer service and they said it was just normal wear and tear. It was a pretty tiny chip, so I can’t argue too much;I was just hoping they would have done something more given the price of the item. I ended up putting super glue on a needle and pushing it back in place, so it is now undetectable. The chip was on the corner of the bag. My guess is I accidentally grazed it against a wall when walking by. Either way, I still absolutely love the bag and don’t regret purchasing!

Thanks so much for the reply. I had to inspect the bag because of what I read on this forum about the V tote. I love the make of this bag and got it in Cerise.

Just a very late update. Bought this bag in LHR airport and I was running late for my flight so unable to inspect properly. When I had the chance to check, the insides of the V had a hole on the Cerise leather hidden by the monogram canvas and the edges on the bottom had some glazing already bubbled. I had to ask someone to do the return for me since I was in hotel quarantine (Peak COVID times). I got a new V tote, however, same issue with bubbled glazing so had to once more contact LV and they had another bag shipped from overseas. When I went to pick up the bag, lo and behold, it had the same glazing issue elsewhere on the canvas. I ended up returning the bag to my disappointment :hrmm:
