US custom charges??

I want to order a bag from Japan and ship it to my address in the United States... but the bag costs over $7000. I looked up U.S. customs policies and it looks like that is over the limit and I would have to pay for custom charges. Does anyone have any experience with this? TIA!

I believe there is some discussion on this topic. Perhaps you can do a search.

However, i believe that you "may" be charged as some of our fellow tpfers have been charged prevoiusly and you will have to pay for the custom duty.
