urgent help requested re-vintage chanel

HELP! i was just about to buy a "vintage chanel" from ebay $660 and i got an email from another member saying it was fake--this bag has an inside gold plate stamped chanel made in france inside--i'm told that real chanels never have had a gold plate inside--does anyone know if this is true???
