Tech Updating iphone

Ok this post is for my dad,

He bought an iphone, about a year ago. But for some reason, it wont update for the new software, it just says it has to do it manually but wont do it.

So we've tried to do it manually but the computers says it cant remove the programme.

He wants to know if he should restore the iphone or the computer or if you have any help/answers?

If itunes will not let him download and install the update, then there is something wrong somewhere and probably the best and only thing to do would be restore. Just make sure to backup first, then restore, update and re-sync and everything should be back.

There should be an option to back up in itunes. Try to right click on the phone name

I had this problem some time ago, and it was my firewall and security software that was not allowing itunes to access. Ended up costing me some of the data on my phone, as I could not even do a system restore on that computer. Had to use DH's computer, his itunes, and it wiped out all of my data and inserted his. It was a mess! AND I had not synced mine in a long time, which matters worse.
