So as many of you know, I waited almost 4 months for my diamond wedding band to be reset to wear with my reset engagement ring which I waited like 6 months for.

I have never fully loved the width of the wedding band, even before the reset, I have always found it a bit too wide. I think I would like one somewhere between 2 and 2.5mm and this is 2.7mm. I know that's not a big margin there, but it's definitely wider than I want and planned for. It doesn't look 'right' or "good" with my e-ring because it's slightly to wide I think. It steals the show even. It's low enough, that's fine, But I think if it was like a half a mm less wide it would be much better.

I am considering selling it and buying a different band later. I don't know how or where I'd sell it but I am just not in love. I haven't contacted the jeweler who made it because I am frustrated still with him, and frankly I cannot really see him working too much on it with me. So...yea.

So I want thoughts, even if they are "why bother you'll still lose money" vein. I have tried now since I got it to love it and I have yet to do so. I didn't love it prior to the reset either. This just didn't make it any better.

First thought: "don't tell DH!" haha

Is taking the stones and melting down the platinum to try a redo out of the question? Other than width is there any other issue? Do you dislike the style? What would you get if you do in fact sell the wedding band? How much could you expect from selling versus remelt and redo?

Personally with the spacer in place I thought it balanced the band and engagement ring shank well.

Oh wow. Sorry to hear that you are not in love with it. If there is one thing you should be in love with it is your wedding band. How does your husband feel about it? Would he care if you sold it? I received a new wedding band when I had my E-ring re-set but I still have my original band that I now where on my right hand sometimes or with different rings. Have you thought about maybe keeping it and wearing it on your right hand since you don't like how it fits with your E-ring? Just some thoughts. I definitely think you should consider changing it if you are not in love with it. :D

My husband doesn't care. But redoing it won't fix the width bec the stones are just too big. I keep hoping it will grow in me but it just looks so wide.

I haven't had my real wedding band since it fell apart the day after the wedding. So that's nonissue. But I also can't wear it on my right. I can't really wear any on my right bec of a scar

I did consider saving for a diff band altoghether bit that will be years. selling would offset the cost to make it easier.

I say doesn't care. He doesn't want to hear any thing about rings. Lol

I have no idea what I'd get but if I got what I paid for the redo I'm fine. Secondhand selling doesn't garner me a lot. Either way I'll lose more Than I'd like.

The band itself as is style is fine? Just need to find it but thinner?

No jewelry stores in town or near capable of doing a trade and custom job? Or maybe trading your stones in for more smaller ones and then reusing platinum?

I know you mention feeling frustrated with your jeweler, but I'd contact him anyway: who knows, maybe he'll even be willing to swap your band for a similar piece with smaller stones if this is a stock item for him. I'm hugely averse to losing money on jewelry, though ....

At the end of the day, you should have something you adore, so I agree you should alter it, swap it, or sell it, but whatever you do, you shouldn't have to take a hit on it. Especially not after, what ... less than a couple of months of owning it, if I'm remembering the date on your last thread correctly?

When it comes to fine jewelry, why have something you don't LOVE? You might lose money by selling it, but at least you will free up some cash to buy something you'll actually love to wear. I vote sell. Life is too short to be walking around with things we don't really love.

The style is fine. I just want slightly smaller stones so it come in a hair over 2mm.

My luck with local jewelers...*sigh* Not so good. I am trying to figure out if its worth calling this guy or not. The band overall is fine, just wider than I want.

Yea I just got it end of March, after almost 4 months of waiting. I don't think I have ever liked the width, even before the reset.

I have considered contacting him. He lost a lot on this deal too, not just in money but time and customers. I just feel like I'd have to buy something premade and that won't come cheap. His bench work is absolutely atrocious. And I am not willing to wait on the casting company that made this one. I will lose money no matter. Because the original ring was $1200 that I got almost a year and a half ago, and then this year I sunk another $1100+ into this reset on the stones that were in the original. So I am going to lose. It's a matter of how much.

That's about where I am! I am not opposed to saving again, but this will offset it.

My brain is saying the Novo or the Blue Nile version would be a good width match, I might go to the worst Tiffany on earth to try that on with my e-ring to see if the width works.

My wedding band is 3 mm (shared prong) and I think it overshadows my solitaire. I see where you are coming from. I didn't start feeling better about the set until I bought a 2 mm channel set band to wear with the ring. I now wear the 3 mm shared prong band on my right hand.

17401 would be my choice as well. Their novo looks a little too, "rough" for me? I don't think I'd spring for the half novo from tiffanys because if you want to stay as close to break even as possible, then the tiff will definitely take more time to save up until versus the others. I heard scott kay makes a good version too. That was the one that my own custom band was modeled after and is the one I have in my photos when I tried it on. Not sure what the price was on it though, but it might be less than Tiffanys.

Off topic: I sized my ring again too. 4.5 size was just a little too tight for me. I take my ring off at least 3 times a day, gym/shower/cook. It was too much more of a struggle than I'd like. I'm sticking with a 5 (5.25 original) and the slightest spin it has will go away when I have my wedding band on under it. It's just more comfortable and having it loose is better than having it possibly not come off! I'm in the "big knuckle" group too. size 5 knuckle, size 4.5 finger. humph!

Is there any way you could post a link to a pic of the two rings together on your hand and their basic info/story for those of us who are behind? I'd really like to see your set. Also, is there a sentimental reason why you're attached to the diamonds/materials from the band or is it a practicality issue?
