I recently came into possession of a Black Nylon vintage Lady Dior Bag. I didn't know when I purchased it, that these items have a tendency to get "sticky". Does anyone own this currently? How is it aging, and what tips do you have to clean it? I watched a you tube in which the vlogger used Woolite Carpet cleaner (came in a can with bristle attached, and came out like foam). Should I just resell it? I don't know what I should do? Does it get worse?

@averagejoe btw thank you for your sage advice. I just wanted to get a feeling if this issue progresses with age. thank you!

My dearest friend bequeathed me her vintage LD in black nylon when she lost her battle with cancer in 2019. It was purchased during a trip to Paris with her husband in the early 1990's. She never really used the bag very often so stored it in it's sleeper bag but when I received it the stickness was immediately obvious. I have left it out of the sleeper in a glass cabinet where I store my LV's, Gucci's etc. and where the air can freely circulate between the glass panels. I use it fairly frequently and just give it a wipe down with a damp cloth soaked in a very small amount of good quality hand soap. It definetely helps with the sticky feeling. The bag means so much to me that I am happy to carry 'as is'. In fact having lost my dear father last year who my friend adored I am thinking of adding a leather LD to my collection in honour of them both!

Your story is so beautiful! I was bowled over with the feeling of love you have for your friend. I will definitely give my LD a wash and love the Lady Dior "as is" too. I love the design, and I have a weakness for vintage bags. I like that they have history.
Thank you for sharing your story and advice. This is a beautiful read.

What a great honor and remembrance of two wonderful souls who have left their blessing in your life!

I honestly didn't think I would love the Lady Dior as much as I did when I received the bag. The style is very romantic. It is elegant!

Bless you! Enjoy your bag! x

I used Woolite Foam Carpet and Upholstery cleaner (the can that comes with the attached green bristle brush).
The effect was outstanding. Not only did it clear any stains, and completely take the stickiness away, it deodorized the bag as well.
The material is so smooth, it feels like a new bag!

Hi, I bought this Lady Dior Vintage at Vestiaire Collective and I still have doubts about it even though it has been authenticated. The grommets on the handles look weird to me how do you guys see it?photo_2022-05-14_17-30-20.jpgphoto_2022-05-14_17-30-22.jpgphoto_2022-05-14_17-30-23.jpg

you lucky puppy! you have a strap!
I took my Lady out for inspection to compare the grommets. They look exactly the same to me. I have the same bag. I don't know if yours is a large size. But the grommets look the exact same, inside and out. I think the authentication is spot on.
Vestiaire Collective, I have not personally purchased through them but their authentication is I heard superb. And as a last word,
I am not an authenticator for TPF, I just compared it to my model.

I had a hard time finding it with a strap:biggrin:, this model (mine) does not have a date code, I mean these grommets, mine seem flatter compared to others prueba1.JPGprueba2.JPG

Upon further inspection, my grommets seem rounded. BUT also this was a vintage style. I am admittedly not a great source on authenticity. You know what, try finding a sub forum in the Dior thread. It helped me alot. The knowledge base there is amazing. I have an idea when mine was manufactured but not positive. Also, may this have been repaired at some point in time?
Also I have a red leather tab that says Christian Dior on the zip pocket and on reverse of the tab it has MADE IN ITALY with RU ****, a four digit date code. Try contacting @averagejoe, whose expertise helped me out a great deal.

I don't really know much about its life, it may have been restored (I saw some with the same gromets although they are difficult to see), I have also published in a forum, thank you very much for your answer
