Tiffany just trying to make sure the name stays branded and not a generic style ... but I think that's too late. wikipedia already has an entry for "tiffany mount" and "tiffany setting" and mentions the lawsuit.

Costco probably should have emphasized "tiffany-style setting" but at the end of the day, if it doesn't have a T&Co hallmark & papers, then it is not Tiffany & Co.

THIS. I mean, it's been around for what, 160 or more years? It's like "kleenex" now.
 
If Tiffany wants to go after all the vendors who sell the 'Tiffany ring' they will have a long list of lawsuits. I wonder how much Costco would have to pay Tiffany for this one.
