University bag suggestions?

I'm stuck on finding an appropriate bag to bring to university classes.

A rough idea of what I'm looking for:

• Something that wont scratch or dent easily
• Materials that won't get damaged by getting caught in London's unpredictable rain
• The biggest item that needs to fit inside is an A4 hardback writing book
• I prefer darker colours
• Under £1,000

I go to a university where people wear Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Hermes bags, so wouldn't have any fear wearing identifiable logos etc.

Any ideas?

You could always try the tried and true LV Neverfull. If you are worried about the rain, you can get in Damier Ebene since the leather is treated and won't get water damage. But it doesn't close so things inside could get damaged in the rain. And alternative could be the LV Totally which does zip so would protect anything in the bag from water damage.
