Unique Ring Setting Advice

So I'd like to get my ring put in a new setting. This is what it is right now:





It is about .71 carats (it looks bigger in the pics for some reason, lol). It's not a wedding or engagement ring, not that it matters, but that's why it's not on my ring finger. I'd like some unique, but dainty setting. My options:
1. Use a similar setting to this:


a. Use the 15 diamonds from the band and put into this setting (or buy & use some other diamonds to put in the band)
b. Put pink sapphires in the band (or alternate diamond and pink sapphire)
c. Put teal-blue diamonds in the band

2. Suggestions for another unique but dainty band.

I like the idea of the pink sapphire or blue diamond but I usually see diamonds with diamond bands... is there a reason that other stones are not usually with diamonds? Does it make the diamond look bad?

It's just preference :yes:
I like trillions next to princess cuts, but that doesn't seem to be the direction you're headed{?}

Swanky love the suggestion. That would really change it up.

OP the setting you posted seems extremely similar to what you currently have. Maybe you need a more drastic change? I enjoy a ring with alternating stones, but I prefer it in a band form, meaning no large center stone. That is just my personal preference.

Yes perhaps something more drastic. How do you guys like princess cut with halo setting? What about a halo setting with a colored stone? Here's a few setting I like through googling. Any opinions on these?
ring1.jpg <-- like this one, perhaps less metal? not sure if it would work with princess cut

ring2.jpg <-- like the stones but don't like seeing so much metal on the side

ring3.jpg <--perhaps only 1 row of halo?

Oooh! Fun project! I like Swanky's idea--looks beautiful!

Have you thought about a double row on your band instead of the single? It does seem that the settings you are considering are kind of the same-unless that is what you had in mind?

I think it depends on the finger you plan to we3ar it on. Swanky's idea is my fave, but is really mor3e of an ering, I think. I LOVE the halo with pink sapphires for any other finger.

Have you thought about a 3 stone with all princess cuts or an antique setting? I feel like if it's left as a solitaire it will mostly look like an engagement ring on your middle finger, which is fine also if thats what you love.
