Ultra Violet compared to other Balenciaga purples? Please help : )

I have my finger on the buy button for a Classic City in Ultra Violet. A purple Bal has always been on my wish list but not until I found a blue and a red. Which I haven't. And older Bals in as new condition in the colours I want just don't show up in the order I have them on my wish list. And they show up very rarely at that. So, though I want a red and a blue Bal more, I really want a purple one as well, and this Ultra Violet looks to be in fantastic condition. And authentic. No return possible though.

Does anyone else here own an Ultra Violet Bal bag, of any model? What do you think, about the colour, leather, longevity? Do you have other purple Bals that you can compare UV with? Which are your favourite Bal purples?

The only reason I'm hesitating is because I was planning more on a darker purple bag. I'm sitting here looking at my Ultra Violet Double Tour bracelet, trying to imagine the colour for a whole bag.

I :love: :loveeyes::hbeat: this color and I remember when I saw it in the Bal boutique (years ago), I said "Yup, this one I must have"! I have yet to get it, but I have all of the other Purples (my fave being the '07 Violene & '04 Eggplant). If you like the Purple color, I would strongly suggest it as there have never been ones in the color before and it is HIGHLY unlikely that we will see it again (especially given Gvsalia)!

Ah yes .. one more thing, given that this bag has the "gloss" over it, it's a lot less likely that it will fade like the earlier Purple bags (which had a really bad tendency to fade A LOT!). They were not an everyday bag, especially in a very sunny climate!

I love when you comment! I always take note :yes: I've been speed reading through the Ultra Violet threads here for pics and comparisons, and have seen very positive posts by you on this purple. I thought I wanted a darker purple but some of them tend to go in to the blue spectrum which makes them look more blueish than purple in pics at least. I really want a purple bag so I think this is the one. My plan is to also find a blue City like one of the Marines or the Bleu Obscur so I don't need a purple that's blueish but want one that is wholly purple.

I'm only worried about the bag's condition. It's described as excellent, it looks like new in pics and the seller is very forthcoming with more details and I don't want to be a too annoying buyer (or I think fussy buyer is what our dear peacebabe likes to call it :P :hugs:and I confess- I am :lol: ) but I can't return it which always makes for a nerve-wracking waiting experience.

I WANT it! To be continued, I'm sure :graucho:

Thanks, ksuro, I had to rush so didn't ask properly. What I meant is, if you were to hold a Dark Violet from 2012, a Ultra Violet from 2013 and a Sorbet from 2010 beside each other for comparison, the Sorbet and UV would "lean" more towards each other, be more similar, than the Dark Violet and the Sorbet.

If you have a Sorbet and want to add a purple Bal for variation, a darker violet would be more variation, is what I'm getting at. I guess that's nothing to worry about though since UV really is a proper purple.

I had a UV town - sold it last year. I probably posted some pics on the forum but I don't know. I found it dark, tbh, more like the bracelet you have pictured. I didn't think it was a bright purple, and it was relatively easy to match with everything. It didn't have any fading at all when I sold it, the color held up very well and the bag was used often. I traded it for a Rose color instead.

Thank you! I'm so close to buying. I wore my Ultra Violet bracelet tonight going out for dinner and the UV is so gorgeous in evening light. My only worry is the condition of the bag. But the bag looks perfect in the pics and the seller is patiently answering my many questions so I think I'll just have to put my trust in the Bal gods and buy :yes:

I had the UV bracelet and the bag. UV looks different on the bag imo. The bag seems brighter? The best way I know how to explain it is - UV is a purple with redish undertones/warm side as opposed to Dark Violet that is a purple with blueish undertones/cooler side. I no longer have the UV because I decided I wanted a purple on the cooler side. I have yet to find one that's in good enough condition for me to buy. Hope this helps.

Thank you ladies, yes, it helps. This is why I was wondering about similarities with Sorbet, that if you have a Sorbet and a UV they will look somewhat similar because of the red shade. But I think they'll be quite different, one clearly purple, the other clearly very pink.

I have my black City and will buy a blue one when I find it, so with my other black bags I think I'm covered for black/blue hues. I need colour oomph in my bags also as I tend to wear a lot of black and blues so I think this UV will be perfect.

I'm going to trust this eBay seller and buy. She's kindly and patiently answered all my questions, added new pics for every detail I wondered about, understands about the details on a City, knows what I'm asking about and has great feedback. AND the bag is in the EU-> no dealings with customs :tup: I'm buying now! :yes: :happydance: :biggrin:
