UK Tiffany shortening service charges?

I phoned UK Tiffany CS around 2 weeks ago to enquire about shortening my bracelet and was told over the phone that it would be complimentary. Sent bracelet in, received email today with a quote of £25 to remove 2 links. Obviously it's a case of my word against theirs as I didn't think to note down the name of the advisor who said it was free, silly me

Has anyone managed to have this fee waived?

All I can say is that if you can track back when you made the call, you can possibly find out who it was that you spoke with. I would ask to speak with the manager and tell them the date and approximate time you had called, and that you were told that you were not going to be charged.
I had the same issue, I had not taken her name downand I ended up paying.

Have sent them an email so I will have everything in writing from now on, kicking myself for not noting the advisor's name. Lesson learned...
