Typical cost for a polish?

Are you in the US? Shining is complimentary... Polishing is quoted at $190 on the Cartier website.
Also, shining it just cleaning. Polishing will remove good in order to get scratches out, etc. Be sure to ask for the correct service for your piece!

I always take my jewelry to my local jeweler and he doesn't charge me at all. They polish it for free. I imagine most jewelers are like this. Paying Cartier almost $200 to polish is ridiculous.
I would clean it myself. If no diamonds, all you need is a tiny amount of Fairy Liquid warm water. Soak. Dry patting. When dry, go over with a soft cloth.
I don't advise putting stones in liquid, but I was so annoyed at my aqua/diamond ring, I was going to give it one chance before selling. I did the above and turned into sparkle magic. I didn't realise the dull 'included' stone was just thoroughly dirty. The gold literally glowed too.
Don't give it to Cartier unless you want them to literally to polish ( @Louboutin329 )

As written before a few times buy an ultrasonic cleaner. Costs about $30 to 40 and makes jewelry shiny almost like the professional cleaning @cartier.
