Two special watches

The Cintree, without a doubt.....it's beautiful. The blush dial and the strap complement each other so nicely and the whole look is elegant and timeless and very wearable.

The Crash, to me, looks cheap in as much as if it's just a trend to produce something completely different from their norm and it could be any make if the usual Cartier identifiers were removed.

Cintree is very classic and I like it. I generally tend to go for more classic or basic options though because I'm boring haha.

The Crash is very artsy. Reminds me of the melting clocks. I get it and I understand it would be a beautiful addition to a collection. It would not be a daily watch for me though.

The crash is so mesmerizing! I guess some would find it too mesmerizing lol. The burgundy/bordeaux color is so classy too.

Can you share the backstory to both? How you decided on and got to customize each watch, the colors, metal combinations etc

Hmmm what to write here? The classic Cintrée is such a beautiful watch but the current models in production are so ugly that I complained heavily about. :yucky: Unexpectedly, one of my SAs asked me if I am open to custom-order one? I was totally baffled but agreed to give it a try.

They first do some sort of background check and judge if someone is allowed to order. As you might know all custom watches have to be signed off by either the CEO Cyrille Vigneron or Pierre Rainero, the Image, Style and Heritage Director of Cartier. After waiting some time I received two proposals both of which seemed just crazy to me. I then made a counter-proposal which in turn they declined. So it went back and forth a couple of times until we could find a something we both could agree on. Finally, it took 11 months to manufacture the watch.

Unfortunately, it is the standard version of the Cintrée and not the slim one they did for the 100th year edition but as I have this one as well, it's okay with me. Very comfy to wear and no regrets so far. :flowers:

For the Crash I sadly could not secure a Tigrée. Being devastated, I then custom ordered a different one. Interestingly, getting a classic one is even harder than a "special" edition. Was thinking of getting a blue Crash but Revolution's Wei Koh already has one so I wanted to go for sth different. This time it was a more streamlined process which in total took a year and a half. Also being happy with this one but a Crash is really hard to read. Not good for telling the time but it's just beautiful.

Both are beautiful pieces and difficult to compare as each of their designs are quite different but imo the Crash is such a special design that it's the one I prefer of the two. The Tigree was a very different and standout version imo.

I have seen Crash watches IRL a number of times over the years. What makes this one-of-a-kind and custom? The color of the face?

I would go for the Crash without hesitation. Very Dali-esque. The Cintree looks elegant, but boring and run-of-the mill in comparison.

I suppose it depends on your style: Do you take risks or play it safe?

IMO, life is too short to wear boring jewelry. Go for the Crash.
