Any sites that you all use to sell your Dooney's that you have never used or only used minimally? I have quite a few that I would like to sell. I have always sold on Vestaire but would like other trustworthy suggestions. I'm slimming down my collection and need to make space in my handbag closet. TIA everyone!

I have done a combination of things when I do a closet clear out of Dooney bags. I give ro friends and neighbors, give to churches that collect donations and have sold online.

Most of my bags have sold on Poshmark. I liked all my bags, some were NWT's and a few were carried just a couple of times.

Dooney is such good quality that they sell quickly. I sold six bags on Poshmark in less than 2 hours. I sold Alto bags for up to $165.00.

Take good pictures, the style, size, color and any flaws. I write all reasonable offers considered. Poshmark has a 20% commission fee. Ship quickly (I ship within 24 hours). If you sell at asking price, wait 3 hrs. before shipping because they can cancel the order. If you negotate a cheaper price with the buyer you can ship right away. Buyer pays shipping and 5lbs. Is the max weight for the shipping price (I think it is $7.95).

On Poshmark I wrap in new white tissue, place a thank you sticker or note, I usually use a clear plastic bag for protection and ship in a box. You can get free priority white boxes at USPS. Only Poshmark sellers can use these.

Ebay is 10% commission and you can place shipping at calculated and Ebay charges based in buyer location (USA only). This gets deducted from the total before you are paid. You need your own boxes.

Dooney buyers love the quality and they sell quickly, but be honest, treat buyers with respect, package well, ship quickly and rack up the good seller feedback.

I hope that helps. Good luck and make some room to buy more Dooney bags for your closet.

Can anyone tell me about their experience on Mercari or Facebook Marketplace or should I stay away from those platforms? I'd love to have insight on as many platforms as possible. Also, any positive/negative experiences on these too. I realize as a seller one has to be discerning. I have always used Vestaire, however I would like to find a platform that I can go ahead and quickly sell these bags. I want my closet and space back in my home. My cup runith over with bags! ;)

Check out the Shopping Forum, it has super active threads about selling sites, full of advice as well.

It's me, again! I feel for you because doing a closet clear out and selling was new to me at one time. About 10 years ago I sold 2 Dooney handbags on Ebay. One transaction went well and the other buyer claimed to Ebay that I sold her a new counterfeit bag. She said I claimed the bag was sold as used and it looked brand new. I had carried the bag frequently for months. I take care of my bags. It was legit. I still had the printed order from QVC. It took me 10 years before I had the guts to sell bags from my closet on secondary sites. She was unpleasant.

You might consider going on Reddit to see how selling is going on at various platforms. I heard Mercari is pretty dead for sales. My neighbor sells other items, but Facebook Marketplace was a fail for her.

Dooney is quality and as long as you have well kept bags, something of interest and price correctly they should sell. I sold a florentine bag on Ebay in less than an hour about a week ago.

Most Dooney buyers are well educated in the brand and know the value.

You might consider cross listing. If I have something on Poshmark and it sells on Ebay, I list the Posh item as all sold out.

To me pricing is key. Remember, a stranger is buying from a stranger and taking a chance. Have reasonable expectations about what someone will pay for your preowned handbag. I see sellers asking what I consider high prices and their listings sit. I want a small bit back on my financial outlay.

For instance, I dropped the selling price on a Dooney bag by 10%. The feedback I received from the buyer was very positive. But, getting some money back and having space is what I am after. I purchased 5 handbags from Dooney and 2 cosmetic bags this week. I hope they all fit.

Just ask yourself what is the goal in selling your Dooney bags and then just start and see what works for you.

I'm so glad you mentioned Mercari. I looked at their platform and may try them and poshmark. I haven't used Ebay for decades. The last time was over 20 years ago to sell a large piece of fitness equipment. May try Ebay at some point.

Will definitely be pricing my bags to move. I have an excellent selling record on Vestaire, however I've noticed that sometimes the bags sit there for longer periods of time and I'm ready to move the bags along.
