I bought a small Panthere watch with diamonds for my niece and a few short weeks later she showed me that a screw had come out. I spoke to my SA and she very sweetly had us come in, was very apologetic and they replaced the watch. It has been less than a month and it has happened again with the new watch!! Has anyone else had this problem? She is not rough on her jewelry and she has treated this watch with the utmost care. I was with her when we noticed it the second time. I texted my SA again and she is currently on vacation but said she would take care of it when she returned. Do we try yet another watch, have this one repaired or perhaps need to look at other styles/brands of wstches. This was a gift to celebrate a milestone birthstone and not meant to cause her stress. I think she should be able to wear the watch without worrying about screws coming out. Watches are meant to be worn, right?

I’m sorry, it must be frustrating .

But it’s interesting. I’ve had my panthere since November 2022 and haven’t had any issues so far. I’ve worn it everyday since the day I got it. I don’t baby it. I stack it with other jewelry, have definitely hit it on some doors or door frames. I sleep with it.

Are the screws you’re referring to the ones for the clasp?
What’s the material? SS, TT, or all gold?

It has been beyond frustrating especially since this is a gift.

It’s been beyond frustrating especially since it’s a gift. I attached photos of the two watches where you can see where the screws are missing. I have two Cartier watches myself and have never had an issue but do not have a Panthere, which is why I am wondering if it is something that others have dealt with. Sigh 😔

Honestly I would exchange it for a different model watch.
As a young bride, I was gifted a bracelet held together with tiny gold screws ( Not Cartier) and it kept on falling apart. I had it repaired 3 times, to no avail. I can't tell you the stress I felt whenever I wore it until I finally had it replaced.
I can understand the stress your niece is feeling right now and think it's best to just replace the watch with something that she can enjoy stress free.

We spoke about what she wants to do and she really loves the watch. I am going to see what my SA says when she returns from vacation. I am just completely surprised that this has happened twice. There is a part of me that thinks that perhaps it might be a good idea for them to take the current watch and repair it and then also check the other screws at the same time and reinforce them if necessary.

Without question I would exchange it for another style of watch. Many years ago (25?), I bought DH a Cartier Tank Francaise watch. It was a total lemon. Had it sent in for repairs/replacement 3 times. After the 3rd repair had failed, the owner of the store (a franchise in another country where we were living at the time) was so mortified at the quality issues that he told us to pick any other watch in the store (within reason). We took advantage of that kind offer.

If an exchange or refund is possible, jump on it.

I personally love the panthere watch and I understand that your niece wanted to wear this specific style. I would not compromise and would want to wear the model that I initially wanted. I would try again and again with a new watch (maybe up to 5 times, I'd probably get frustrated by then) until I get a good quality watch. I just cannot believe that it's a common issue at Cartier, usually their quality is excellent. Plenty of people have this model and wear it without issues, I really think your SA should be able to replace her watch with a new one that's not faulty. If this happens again maybe she might consider the one without the diamonds to test if that's what's causing the issue.

@NanaEvie were you able to get her watch fixed?
So sorry for the late response!! We went back to Cartier and of course our SA couldn’t have been nicer. Neither one of us were ready to give up on the watch. The idea of her having to pick out an alternative was breaking both our hearts so we were sort of going in with a “three strikes and you’re out” type of attitude. The SA looked at it through the jewelry loop and was shocked that it had happened again. She took it into the back and shortly thereafter returned with the watch. Imagine our surprise when she told us that the screw wasn’t missing after all, it was covered by a speck of dirt! The rest of the watch was immaculate and somehow a little dirt got in the screw and since we had had the previous experience where the screw was actually missing, we were both sure that it had happened again. Our SA had also thought it was missing when she had initially looked. Well, we were thrilled that we did not have to exchange the watch or make the decision to go with another style. Honestly we were over the moon!!! A happy ending! Thank you to those of you who responded. It was greatly appreciated. ❤️
