Does anyone know if the Trinity ring originally had 'Cartier' engraved on the outside of the pink gold band? Or is this a recent design choice?
I'm not too keen on the brand name being so openly on display...

If I remember correctly, the earliest versions of the ring did not have any engraving on the outside of the band. The early 80's brought the 'Les Must de Cartier' series, followed by the 'Cartier' engraved version we see today. Hope that helps!

My aunt has one that's engraved with les must de Cartier. It's quite wordy tbh :P
And if I'm not wrong, these words were stopped and replaced with just Cartier in 90s? My aunt's considered a vintage then?

I bought my trinity about 20 years ago and the engraving is on the inside of the band.

and that was 50 years ago

That was only for a very short time and on 3 coloured items

I think they were plain on the outside in the 90s (I don't remember my mother's having any writing on the outside).

You can tell more from the hallmarks on the inside about the history of the ring

Don't worry anyway, the photos in pics are usually enhanced. I have all sizes. On the Classic and Small size, IRL, you will hardly be able to make out the engraving at all, even on the LM you really have to get near and look hard . Plus, you can turn them round or partially cover the writing.

I tried to uncover the "Cartier" so many times seing it being eclipsed by the other rings again. Now stopped to do that.

p.s. The 7 ring has the wording, too. It's soooooo tiny, hardly to even notice

So, glossmaven's correct in saying that the first iterations of the Trinity had an unengraved outer pink gold band?

First Trinity was created in 1924

I'm not sure of all the variations between then and 94 years later but for sure 'le murst de Cartier' 'Cartier' has appeared on 1970s rings (dated from gold marks) and obviously there have been versions without, stars (illusion-set diamonds) diamonds in various colours, ceramic and white gold, ceramic and wht/yellow gold, SM, Classic, LM, 5 rings, 7 rings and so on.

As I said, I have all sizes and all my Trinity rings have 'Cartier' on 1 ring of 3.

You can be reassured that on new rings IIRL, 'Cartier' is very, very, very hard to read on any of them, even the largest model.
