Hi all--

I hope this isn't a duplicate question, as I've done a search and didn't anything.

What do you use for your jewelry when traveling? I have several watches, as well as necklaces and earrings, that I take with me when I travel. Their individual boxes take up too much space, but I am worried they will be scratched if I just use a jewelry roll or something similar.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

I'm no help, because I don't travel with anything expensive, especially a watch which may go in one end of the xray and mysteriously disappear before I get to it again.
OTOH if it is in a jewelry roll, and in your carryon, it is probably protected enough, don't you think?

-Hmmm, you could buy one roll for each item, if they are really expensive pieces, it seems worth the cost.

What about bubble wrap the item and then into the jewelry roll.

I'm fresh out of sensible ideeas, LOL, these are just what's popping into my head

When I travel, I only take the jewelry I have on, so I'm not much help. But I have seen little hard-sided travel jewelry cases that have lined compartments to separate the pieces. They look like they'd fit pretty easily in a larger handbag, and definitely in a carry-on.

I only take the jewelry I have on. Usually earrings, simple studs, my e ring and band, rhr and now probably my watch when I get it. I usually only travel in the summer to a beach environment and the hotel we stay at is more casual so IDk if they even have a safe there. I would only trust your jewelry in your purse or carryon not anything to check.

i usually just have all the expensive jewelry and watches im going to take in my handbag im taking to the airport lol all thrown in the bags pocket, and sometimes i just leave some in my makeup bag in my travel bags :p (so i guess im no help)

Cartier watch, earrings that will go with several outfits, necklace that goes with several outfits, blingy ring. That's it. I wear it all so I don't have to worry about carrying and losing extra pieces or being robbed. Someone once stole a gold bracelet from me on a trip, so ever since, I NEVER carry extra jewelry. If I'm not wearing it, I'm not taking it.

I use a jewelry roll, it is well-designed so that there are small individual-item pockets for watches and stuff, and the way it rolls on itself means that earrings, etc. are against the soft lining when the roll is closed. You should be able to find one with a similar design. I always keep this in my purse when travelling through the airport, etc. I also try to keep jewelry to a minimum when staying in a hotel, just to be safe/worry less.

I put things into their individual storage bags and put those into the clutch that i am taking along. i then put that into it's dustbag and then into my big purse/day bag that i carry on. that way i know where everything is.
i don't usually take many extra pieces, but if i do, that's how i do it.

I have the habit of wrapping my jewelry individually with toilet paper then put them into a sandwich bag. It is easy for me to manage but quite dangerous when travelling with other people - last time I put my pearl strand in toilet paper besides the sink, my father threw it right into the trash can. :sweatdrop:

I often will take an extra set of jewelry with me but have traveled with more (long vacation, etc). I use a silk jewelry roll with multiple pockets but will usually use a foam square to stick earrings in to keep them from rubbing against each other before putting them in the roll. I will also sometimes put the foam square or individual pieces in those tiny ziploc bags (1 x 2 inches or so). I don't normally bring more than one watch though.

I try to keep it at a minimum, but I have a very small jewelry roll that I use. It has individual zippered compartments so you don't have to worry about scratching. It's small enough to keep at the bottom of my purse so I don't have to leave it anywhere.
However, I try to pick out jewelry that I can just wear the entire time.
