i'm traveling to Spain and Morocco, and i know i need to buy an adapter for my Macbook, but do i need to buy an adapter that is also a converter?

does anyone have any recommendations on a particular one to buy? i know apple sells a travel kit, but i think it's unnecessary since i won't be charging an ipod or iphone too. just my macbook and a regular ol cell phone.

TIA!

The white block in the power cord for the macbook is a converter. All you need is an adapter. I got the set from the apple store but I regret it because it was so expensive and can only be used with the apple chargers. Also, it replaces the extender on the charger cable which is annoying. Now I use the Conair adapters that came with my multi-voltage blowdryer. They were free and work great!

Check your electronics to see if they have dual voltage (120-240V). If so, all you will need is a plug adapter. Google to see which one(s) you will need in Spain and Turkey and you can buy them at Best Buy, Radio Shack, Amazon, etc.

If your electronics indicate they work on 120V only, then you will also need a voltage converter. As with the plug adapters, you can buy these at Best Buy, Radio Shack, Amazon, etc.

There are a couple of threads from the Travel section that discuss this. Check out:
