Hi everyone! I am wanting to get my first Gucci handbag and I am torn between these two. I want to use this as an everyday bag. I’ve been using the Petite Marmont WoC but I want something that will be able to fit more. I absolutely love the designs. However, I do worry that the Horsebit 1955 might be a little bulky on me since I am petite.

What are your thoughts and which one do you prefer? Thanks in advance!

I have been thinking about this while I drove home  I do love the horsebit very much but the Jackie is the one I would choose. The slight slouch seems like it would be more comfortable as an everyday bag. Can't wait to find out what you choose!

The slouch and casual vibe of the Jackie is absolutely lovely! And thank you so much  Unfortunately I can't visit the boutique due to the pandemic so it's making the decision so difficult and exchanging/returning feels like such a hassle

Less than a week ago, I bought a preowned Gucci 1955 Horsebit handbag in monogram and with red leather trim. I bought it on Fashionphile. I had just sold them my Fendi-Peekaboo from 2015 and received an excellent amount and then just used that payment to purchase the Gucci 1955 Horsebit which was nearly an equal exchange price wise. The preowned Gucci that I received is in mint condition. It looks as if the previous owner never used it. I've been dealing with both selling and some buying from Fashionphile for a good decade and a half as I used to go to the Beverly Hills boutique.

The 1961 Jackie is nice, but not my favored shape. Plus, the 1955 Horsebit first came out in the year that I was born. I saw a lot of them coming up through the decades which brings back great memories. And I love that it's made in red leather trim.

The Gucci 1955 Horsebit handbag is really gorgeous! I have a vast handbag collection of decades and that bag is one of the standout classic handbags in my collection. It's one that will be around for many years to come as it's already been around since 1955.

I remember when Karenbritchick-Youtube commented about having bought the Gucci 1955 Horsebit handbag for herself as a belated birthday gift. I had also been eyeing that handbag as it was part of the Cruise 2020 collection. Below is her clip with the handbag. She bought the monogram Gucci 1955 Horsebit handbag with the brown leather trim.

The Gucci 1955 Horsesbit handbag is around 21 minutes into the video.

I have (kinda) both too, but a Medium Bouvier.

@LexAeterna, I was going to suggest the Jackie first because it's so easy for everyday. However, despite my own reservations of the 1955 being perhaps to 'bulky' and the strap a bit short for X-body it's wound up being a very practical bag, a pleasure to use and carry.

Please come back and show us you with your 1955 when you're ready.

The Jackie 1961 in black leather and the Horsebit 1955 with brown trimming - these two feel iconic to me.

I have been checking out GUCCI for years, waiting for THE vintage comeback. And now it's here.
I fear I should not miss this opportunity, after years with too much funk for my liking. :amuse:

This weekend, I went in looking at the Black Jackie 1961 and the Canvas with Brown Horsebit 1955. I was looking for a bag I can wear everyday. I am 5'2", I was wearing jeans and a slim black turtleneck. For an hour, I tried both on in front of a mirror, looking at alternate colors, changing the straps from short to long and back to short again.

While trying on the Horsebit 1955 in Canvas with Brown trim, I received a compliment from a man who was waiting for his wife on how lovely it looked on me. A compliment from a random stranger is always honest. So I chose the Horsebit 1955 in canvas with brown trim. I am absolutely in love with how classic it looks.
