Torn between diamond bar or bangle. Pics? Need decision by tonight!

HI all...my boyfriend is taking me out tonight to buy my Christmas present and I need to make a quick decision. Pics online on retailers websites just suck lol

Option 1 is a diamond bangle (1/2 way around). Much more substantial and bigger diamonds, but also more expensive so I would likely put some $$ towards it to get something nicer and over the budget that he wants to spend. Not a big deal but still something to think about.

Option 2 is a diamond bar bracelet. Problem is I'm seeing only small ones online that only go up to like 1/3 carat max. Pro is it's cheaper and I wouldn't have to shell out any money, but wonder if I would be as happy with something more dainty.

Looking for an everyday bracelet. Does anyone have pics they can share of both a diamond bangle or the diamond bar? I only have until about 6pm to make a decision. Please help!! :cool:

if you're looking for an everyday bracelet, just working from your description alone, I would go with the smaller diamond bar bracelet. easier to wear on a daily basis because of the lower carat weight.

I disagree with PP. IMO, a bangle is easier to put on and take off, and is more durable in the long run. It is much easier to wear on a daily basis, and will last for a much longer time than a daintier bracelet (at least for me). It may be more expensive, but a bangle would be more worth the investment for me.

I have a coulple of diamond bangles and I find them way more versatile than my diamond bracelets for everyday wear. With my bangles, I'm not worried about them getting caught on anything, breaking etc. To me the bangle would be a better choice and worth the investment IMO.

Thanks for the opinions ladies. Was hoping that others would have pics that I could see, but I did get to the store last night. Unfortunately they only had 1 bangle in store that we didn't like and due to my small wrists, the standard 7" size that the bangles come in is just way too big. They told me that most likely to get a bangle it would have to be custom made as it's harder to resize a bangle due to the hinge and clasp.

I am still leaning towards the bangle though and to have it semi-fitted. Although I will likely never buy a love bangle and really prefer diamonds anyway, that is the kind of look I am going for. One of those bracelets that fits my wrist and never comes off.

I am headed out to my jeweler that I've used for several years now to make other pieces for me today to talk to them and see what they can do, even if I have to buy another diamond bracelet and have the bangle custom made, that's really what I want. Will likely not be opened on Christmas morning, but I would much rather have something I truly want and value and have to wait a bit longer for it than to have instant gratification.

I have 4 diamond eternity bangles and I agree with Islandchick and HauteMama...more durable. I wear them everyday and haven't taken them off for 10 years...except to clean and check the diamonds. One of the best jewelry investments I've ever made!
Check out the Bony Levy diamond bangles...several tPF members own them and they come in 2 sizes!

Skyqueen, you have a fab collection! Did you have them custom made?

I have seen the Bony Levy ones and they are really nice. I had a Bony Levy ring custom made that I love too! He has trunk shows at Nordstrom and then his jewelry is 20-25% off! Prob won't help for Xmas...but for future reference.

Not custom made...just lucked out and I have small wrists! I'm embarrassed to say how much they cost me 10 years ago...the prices are so high, now! Let's just say they were a bargain.........................
One of the gals on the "over 50" thread bought 2 Bony Levy diamond bangles when Nordstrom's had their F&Fs promotion. She loves them!
