I really love both of these styles, but am wondering if you could only have one...which do you find more practical and easy-to-use? I’m NOT asking about Chanel bags in particular, I’m just using them as a visual to describe the styles. I like to be able to carry my bags multiple ways - mostly crossbody, but also by hand and in the crook of the arm, and sometimes on the shoulder. So, do you find a top handle bag with a long strap easier to use, or a double chain bag where you can convert the chain from long to double? Again, not asking about these Chanel, just these styles in general.

I never, ever use top handles. They're just a nuisance for me. Give me a good shoulder bag any day over a satchel-y top handle bag. But that's just my opinion. Which do you prefer?

I love top-handle bags. I can carry by hand, slip on the crook of my arm, or use the long strap to carry it as a shoulder bag. When I'm using the long strap, I usually prefer to wear my top-handle bags on the shoulder rather than wear them as crossbody bags.

That said, I also like chain strap bags, particularly for evening outings. I usually double up the chain and wear them as shoulder bags in such situations. However, if I could have only one, I would go with a top-handle bag.

I prefer the chain strap that can be doubled. I have a vintage top handle bag from Coach, which I love, but I feel like top handles are always dressier for some reason. So I use it less than my shoulder bags with chain straps. The flap bag on the right, to me, feels more versatile.

Hiya! :wave:Since you introduced me to the kelly I’ve never looked back. I prefer handheld bags, because they don’t ruin the line of my clothes. When needs demand hands free I use a crossbody, and virtually never shoulder bags. Have you noticed how people who habitually carry a heavy shoulder bag, have one shoulder almost permanently raised.?:hrmm: Having said that there is always the option of double the chain?

I love both and use both styles pretty equally. It really depends on the occasion and what I’m wear for me.
I agree, I like both. I like the top handle with long strap for day and smaller chain shoulder bag for more dressy or evening occasions. I find any type of shoulder bag more easy to use and more comfortable to wear and carry, but if it has a chain strap it can feel a bit too dressy for the daytime for me and my lifestyle. What I do like about the top handle with long strap is that you can change the way you carry it to be more comfortable and suit where you are and what you are doing.

Hi ladysarah! Hope all is well with you! I know...will always love the kelly ❤️ But realistically and functionally, it’s not going to work for me. The Coco handle like above seems to tick all my boxes - I really like the internal divider and multiple pockets. But more people are saying the chain bag is easier to use - ? With your reissues, did you find the chain dug into your shoulder?

I don’t have the coco handle and cannot comment, but the reissue is very comfortable and does not dig in my shoulder. I have the really small size and it works great- the bigger will be heavier.
