Michael Kors Too Trendy? Opinions on the Mandarin Selma

Hi all,
So some of you know I just recently bought the mandarin selma. I haven't even taken her out of the dust bag yet because the weather where I live is super crappy that I haven't even worn any spring clothes yet... so for me, no new bags will come out until the weather gets warmer LOL... but anyways, I've been debating on the mandarin selma now... as she is GORGEOUS... do you think this will be a "trendy" bag and I will lose interest in the bag come next year or ? I'm just trying to figure out if she is a keeper? I love the color and the look of course since she is my second selma, but not sure if I got too much of a "wow" color... should I exchange for a different color? My other selma is a grey studded selma...I do have a studded MK crossbody in luggage also

I like the impact the brighter colors have in the larger bags. I'm carrying my red grommet Selma today and love it. (I posted a pic in the mod shot thread)

The key is going to be how you feel about the color. If you're uncomfortable or think it's too bright, you won't carry the bag and that will be a waste of your money.

Personally - after seeing your bag in the mandarin, I've been enabled and I'm thinking seriously about getting the EW Hamilton in this color. :D

HAHA, thanks NutsAboutCoach... I know what you mean, its not like this is my first time getting a bag in a gorgeous bright color... and I already had outfits planned with it even... LOL... I just think I'm trying to "reassure" myself that this is going to be a great bag to have in my collection. Ooooo if you get a Hamilton in this color, share pics! would love to see!

Too trendy for what? If you get to enjoy her for a few years or many years, then you've gotten your money's worth. I buy bags because I love them. They make me feel put together even if I'm wearing very casual clothes at my kids sporting events. :smile1:

My bags don't always have to be classic styles in classic colors. That can get boring. Sometimes a girl just wants to have fun...... :D

I fell really hard for the mandarin color. I loved it so much I bought the mk dressy large tote in Mandarin because I wanted a bright colored bag to carry for the spring/summer months. I feel the selma is gorgeous in mandarin and can be carried for years. I plan on using my mandarin tote for everyday dressed up or when I am dressed down, it works!.
but you have to like the color and feel comfortable carrying it.

orange is the new black, imho LOL....

I got an orange Fendi last year, and I was really surprised at how versatile orange is. I wear lots of neutrals, very few prints. I have several orange silk scarves that I love to wear with my orange bag.

I think the mandarin is gorgeous! I also got the mandarin selma, and wear I live the weather is still kinda crappy but I wore the bag with really neutral colours on a kinda rainy day and still got so many compliments and looks because of the bag! it is so statement and the shape of selma is so classic that it will be in style for a long time, so I think it all comes down to what youre comfortable with :) but i think you should keep it its a gorgeous colour!

haha, thanks for the tips girls! Yeah I already had so many outfits in mind when I bought this bag... this was the only reason I ended up going back to Macy's because of the sale was of THIS mandarin selma! (and it was the last one too, so apparently me and Mandarin Selma were meant to be together) LOL... I plan on wearing it with neutrals as well like most of you said so it gives that POP of color :cool:... now only if spring would get here where I live...:whistle:

I have a MK bag from last year in the tangerine. It is a bright, true orange. You would be surprised what all goes with it! I say if you like it, wear it! Especially next to neutral clothing, it will really stand out and look great. :D
