Do you ever wear your Birkin or Kelly without a Twilly on the handles?

I’ve always heard it’s best to protect the handles from the natural oils of your skin/hands. Is there any truth to this?

I love the look of a Twilly, but sometimes I just want to wear my bags without them. I feel sometimes twillys clash with my outfits.

Thoughts?

Absolutely!

I put a twilly on my bag to both protect the handles and to coordinate with my outfit.

There are several times when the twilly just doesn't work, and I remove it from the handle. IMO, it is a personal choice of how you want to wear your handbag. I also find comfort that I can always send my handbag to the Hermes Spa if the handles need to be fixed.

It’s a personal preference.

Having said that, I’m not a fan of twillies.

Thank you! Glad to know I’m not alone here. And equally happy to hear that this is something the spa can help repair if need be.

Totally rambling thoughts....
I used to be looooove twillies and collected them every season because I felt they were so fun and also protected the handles.
As time progressed, I still use them but not nearly as much as I used to and I have become v picky.
I wear my bags naked a lot more and I never wear a twilly on my sellier kelly. I don't like the look at all. The same goes for my Gold Birkin and my Black Birkin.. no twillies (usually only small bag charm). So far absolutely no issues with darkening handles but I rotate my bags so I don't use the same bag all the time. If I were to carry the same birkin all the time, I would probably opt to wear twillies often.

I also tend to prefer more muted/neutral twillies and mostly only wear one on my Birkins. I guess it just depends on my mood. I still do love them though. Oh and I will absolutely wear them on my craie birkin in the summer all the time to protect the handles. :flowers: I think it depends on the bag and really is all about whatever works for you!

Happy to hear this, as it’s my gold birkin I struggle the most with. I just think it’s so beautiful naked. But the fear of ruining the handles sticks in my head. Thanks for the reassurance.

I had no plans of adding a twilly to my bag, but when I went to pick her up from the store, my SA tied the three graces twilly and it just blended so well with the bag that I have kept in on. It adds a unique look to the bag.
I’ve bought twillies mostly as hair ties but if I do end up with a light colored birkin then that may also have twillies. Other than those, I don’t plan to have more bags with twillies.

I personally dont like them as I think the bags look beautiful 'naked' If I had a Birkin or a Kelly in a light colour I dont know if that would alter my opinion but I think not..I'd probably live with the darkened handles (because after all most the time I'd be carrying the bag by them ) then send the bag to Spa if it really started to bother me.
As an aside I love the look of twilly of some of the bags posted here but its not for me.
Although I have noticed that the SA tend to automatically pull them out as an add-on sale in the boutique.

me too - love a naked bag. kellys look quite sculptural. ;) but twillies can look fun (OMG you would not believe what autocorrect did to my post, good thing i saw it.) I sometimes use them on holidays, but then when I got back to London, IMMEDIATELY removed them. somehow they look wrong.

 I DO know what auto-correct did to 'twillies' it does it every time to me too-one day one will slip the net and depending on the context we can all either have a laugh or I'll end up with the post being reported !

I'm a naked bag girl all the way, but that being said, twillies brought me to my wonderful SA, so I'm always grateful ( I wear them on my neck or as a tie in the summer).
But here's a story- one of my cats gave a lovely bite to the handle of my BF Kelly ( when basically brand new of course). Well, I'm all "cover with twilly v. replace handle v. just shoot myself" Coincidently, I was going to Madison to drop off my peau porc for spa and figured I'll wear the Kelly and show it them, get their opinion, etc. Two artisans ( separately) said "Live with it!! It's a gorgeous bag and enjoy!" Which I have ever since! ( and tried a twilly or 2 on it anyway, took one look, knew it was lovely but just not ME, so here I am!)
It really IS what ever works for you.
