To return to to keep Jimmy Choo Biker Boots

I got a pair of Jimmy Choo biker boots from the Outnet. I got a really good price since it was discounted at 65%. However, when I received the boots in question, the leather on the left boot appeared as though it was something that could be peeled off, as it were. For such an expensive boot, the leather appears to be very light and almost flimsy. I've attached the pictures herewith.

SHould I keep them or return them? I love how light-weight they are and that they don't feel clunky like my Fryes, and I don't think I can get a better deal, but I'm unsure about the boots themselves. Even at circa $430 down from $1200, they are expensive and I somehow feel the quality doesn't justify the price.

Opinions will be much appreciated.

I can certainly understand your concern. I've had a couple of good experiences with the Outnet, do you think if you contacted them with these photos they would be willing to offer a partial refund? I'm not sure if that's something in their policy. Worth a shot, I think.

Otherwise it really depends. I personally couldn't live with flawed $430 shoes regardless of the deal. But it's relative.

^Yep, I've generally had good experiences with the Outnet as well. I did write to them about it, but they only ever offered to refund me in full should I return it. I was hoping they might give me a bit of a refund/discount, but they didn't. Then again, I didn't contact them with the pictures? DO you think I should write to them again with the pictures? $430 is not cheap by any means, and given the current economic climate, I feel uncomfortable dropping so much money on a pair of boots, even if I can very easily afford them.

Those definitely look defective to me and I've tried these shoes on before in boutiques, so they should not look like that.
Yes, I would try again to explain the problem with pictures attached.
As for how much to get refunded... well that's really hard to say. I personally don't think it would be more than 20%. If something is wrong, I would usually ask for 10% reimbursement or cost for repair services. (But all my items are usually bought at large retail stores, so I don't know if that makes a difference).
Good luck!

A 20% discount would mean I'd get a store credit of about $80. That doesn't sound too tempting. :shucks: I might as well get a brand new pair of immaculate boots for half the price.

Besides, I also got myself a steeply discounted Belstaff Barkmaster ankle boots and a Fiorentini + Baker combat boots from the Barneys sale, so I probably have a couple of new boots as it is …

I wouldn't keep them for nearly any price. It's all I'd see when I looked down and I'd wonder constantly when they're going to peel.

Ah, you answered my question. It's not so much that it looks as though it's about to peel off, but feeling the boot makes it a whole lot worse. It's just ever so papery and fragile.

I think I'll certainly return them now. Thanks for all the opinions, guys. I greatly appreciate it. :flowers:

I would contact them again with the photos. You are right and 430 is still a lot of money for shoes, especially if they are not in great condition.

Cheers for all the responses.

I winded up sending it back. I contemplated asking them for a partial refund, but I supposed they might've at least offered a partial refund the first time I'd contacted them if they were serious about it. I will get refunded in full though, and they won't charge me return shipping. Guess I have to be grateful for small mercies, lol.

As it so happened, I ended up returning the other two pair of boots I'd got as well. The Fiorentini Baker didn't fit, and they didn't have it in the next size, and the Belstaff boots were too rigid, and it was a pull-on style, and as someone with a high arch, I found it very hard to pull the boots on and off my feet. The sizing of Fiorentini Baker is ever so confusing and inconsistent. I had to size down when I got my Eternity boots, but even after sizing UP just to be on the safer side, the Marge didn't fit.

So now I'm on the hunt for a good pair of boots again. Jimmy Choo Biker boots show up every now and again on the Outnet, so the next time they have it in my size in a different colour, and provided the boots aren't damaged, I plan to get them again. I can't justify the retail price (+ a hefty CA sales tax), so I guess I've got to keep my eyes peeled. Or wait for the next net-a-porter/Barneys sale.

Again, thanks for all the responses. I greatly appreciate it. :flower:

Btw, those boots on the outnet? Really? Wow, how did I miss that. I've been looking for those boots in sale for a long time.

They show up on the Outnet every now and again, though in very limited sizes. Usually sizes 41.5 or 42 turn up, which I suppose isn't a terribly common shoe size in North America. Still, it won't go amiss to check very now and again, as sometimes you may just wind up finding them in your size.
