To Keep or Not To Keep...That Is The Question

Hey all,

I purchased this bag from an online consignment store. It was not cheap but i loved the stitching. The description of the bag said it was in pretty good shape and when I spoke to a rep, their said that there was a little scuffing but no scratches. It’s the first time that I’m buying a used bag.

I got the bag yesterday and there’s a scratch on the front of the bag and some scuffing under the flap. I have 14 days to return the bag for a full return. What do you think? Should I keep it or return it?

Does the scratch on the front bother you?

I find with some of my bags it adds character but with others it still bugs me years later.

It looks quite chunky and 'steampunk' which would suit some settings but maybe not others.

I think it looks ok; maybe someone tried to use leather conditioner on it and it stuck into the leather (the white markings look like that to me). It's obviously not perfect but their description seems accurate. I would expect the price to reflect the issues it has and not be paying over or near retail.

I agree with @Lucycarol. It's annoying to you, return it. Although, I do think it is beautiful!

This would not concern me.

Personally, I would use a very good leather conditioner and go over the entire bag. I don’t think the scuffs will *completely* go away, but I think there is a good shot that it will mitigate a whole lot of these blemishes.

A “deal” is subjective. I don’t like boy bags so I would hardly pay anything for a used seasonal one, but others who like them would pay a bit under retail or retail (possibly more) for one they really loved. Do you think you got a deal based on retail of the bag?

It’s under retail but not significantly. Didn’t come with a dust bag or box but came with authenticity card.
