Thoughts? I had been looking at the wavy cc since it first came out (and I thought it was cute!) so when I went into the boutique to look at 24c, I saw they had it again. It’s the patent medium size (not caviar like I had seen before), but it still seems pretty durable. To be honest, more than anything, my selling points for this bag was the fact that it’s so practical. It’s so difficult to find a bag that isn’t too small (or too big), has magnetic closure, can be worn should and crossbody without any detachable straps. And has multi-pocket storage.

I worry a bit about this bag seeming too mature for me, since I haven’t seen any young people with styles like this. Caviar may have helped that maybe? But I do think the patent calfskin is something different. It’s a very similar shape and size (slightly bigger though) than my Prada re-edition. I’m pretty sure my SA noticed, because I was wearing the re-edition to the boutique lol

Overall, I think that the practicality of this bag and the functionality is rare for a Chanel, so I like that very much. I think I hesitate a little with the design and leather (even though I do think it’s really cute). Sometimes I think I want something and then second guess myself as soon as I buy it. Does this happen to anyone else?

As far as I can see in the market, it’s not a bag will hold resale value

IMO only, if you love this bag, and are young and fashionable enough to carry off an eighties retro look like this, it could look interesting. But, I’m 56 and remember this style the first time around. I don’t think it has aged well, and I personally would pass. If you are second guessing something even before you purchase, thats a strong indicator that it doesn’t work. JMO

I am also eyeing this bag since it came out. I agree with all your selling points and practicality you mentioned, which is not that often with chanel. However, I personally wouldn't go with this leather for this particular style. BTW, I think this is shiny crumpled calfskin, not patent leather (TPFers, please correct me if I'm wrong). For this style I would go ideally with regular calfskin or caviar. For me this is more of a day bag and a bit too shiny. I have a medium CF so black in this leather, which is more evening bag for me but can still be dressed down. This hobo style I wouldn't use as an evening bag and for the day it's a bit too much, JMO.

It does not give me any mature vibe, just the opposite, I think. But again JMO.

It seems you are still not sure, so maybe sleep on it a bit. I hope they will keep this style and come up with other leather and HW combination. Good luck!

I'm in my 30s and I think that the shiny crumpled leather makes it a younger vibe than if it were a caviar plain leather. I think it's really cute and fun.

I may be part of the definite minority but I love this bag, specifically in the caviar. I monitored it since it ‘first’ came out in 23c and immediately purchased it when it came out in caviar in 23p, medium size.

The practicality is unparalleled in my mind. I look for specific features in my bags and this hits on so many - overall security, back pocket, front compartment, spaciousness. I used to be so indecisive and bring multiple bags while traveling or struggle to pick a bag for just the day out. These days, I am simply content with just this bag and a smaller evening bag when traveling. Now this bag is easily my daily go to.

With everything said, everyone is different. You seem to have quite some pause. Maybe it’s the material? The shiny crumpled has limited utility in my opinion. In all, it depends how you see yourself using this bag. You should be more excited about your purchase than hesitant.

Chanel can be cyclical so hopefully one day the perfect bag comes to you!

Just sharing my experience - I bought this bag last week ($5300) size and am young-ish (early 30s) and while I LOVE the shiny finish, I’ve decided to return it. Firstly, the opening was super finicky to me. The inner pouch sticks out far into the bag and I found it inconvenient to get in and out of when worn crossbody. More so, I could not style this bag to save my life! I tried with all different types of outfits and nothing sparked for me, so back it goes. I think if you like it and can style it, it can definitely work for any age; I just couldn’t get it to work for me 🤷‍♀️
