To keep or not keep Pre Loved Hampstead GM

So I recently purchased a pre-loved Hampstead GM in Damier Ebene. I am unsure about the straps being a little thick and not soft. Worried the straps are going to slip off of my shoulders. I have played with my stuff in it already and walked around the house and it felt like it might not stay very well on my shoulders. Maybe just needs more stuff inside of it. Also the purse had a slight musky smell to it so I have been trying to use dryer sheets. I am not sure what else I can use to get the odor out.
Any input on this bag would help me out.
I am wondering if I should have gotten the Totally MM I had it before in my past and loved it.

If you paid less than $500, I say keep. If you paid more than that, I would return it. I tend to think in terms of how much I can get it for currently in Japan and Sk at a consignment shop. For me, the smell goes away if you just use it. If you don’t, that smell will always be there. I have hand me down bags from mom and they smelled like mothballs. Not anymore because I use it.
with that said, I really love damier bags and it’s hard to find cute ones on the resale market so if money is not in question, I would keep it. They make straps for these on Etsy and the prices are very reasonable ($45). I actually like this bag and think it’s a score you got one in great shape. With the price increases in neverfull bags, I would keep it. This bag is far better than neverfulls because the straps are adjustable and the bag is sturdier. My two cents.
